The Process Engineer plays a critical role in developing and scaling up new processes, as well as modifying existing ones, under the guidance of New Product Development. This role primarily supports O’Keeffe’s production lines, with a focus on cosmetic products (lotions, lip balms, creams) and OTC items.
Key responsibilities include specifying equipment based on process designs, designing and installing associated utilities, and overseeing processes from initial conception to implementation. This involves creating process flow diagrams, piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs), and detailed scope documents with drawings for contractor bidding and construction.
Additionally, the Process Engineer collaborates with internal and external engineering resources to develop automation solutions, ensuring the effective control and operation of these processes.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Analyze existing processes for efficiency and cost-effectiveness, improve yield and reduce waste.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Production, Maintenance, and Quality teams to drive process improvements.
- Develop comprehensive project scope documentation, including project plans and specifications.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards, safety regulations, and environmental guidelines.
- Collect and analyze process data to identify trends, troubleshoot issues, and propose data-driven enhancements.
- Provide training and support to production personnel on new processes and technologies.
- Specify and procure new process equipment and collaborate with vendors to determine appropriate solutions.
- Support contract manufacturers by delivering process engineering expertise and troubleshooting guidance.
- Create and update P&IDs and process layouts using AutoCAD and apply SolidWorks knowledge when needed.
- Stay current with industry advancements, emerging technologies, and best practices to foster continuous innovation.
