Description

Position: ASSISTANT PROFESSOR OF MATHEMATICS

Reports To: Division Chair

Classification : Exempt

Core Responsibilities: Teaching 12-15 credit hours and academic advising. The successful candidate should have experience in teaching a minimum of 3-4 of the following courses: College Algebra, Trigonometry, Discrete Mathematics, Probability and Statistics, Calculus I, Calculus II and/or Linear Algebra.

Responsibilities:

  • Teaching 4-5 classes (12-15) hours each semester.
  • Advising.
  • Participating in department activities.
  • Strong supervisory and leadership skills to manage and control the classroom.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the proven ability to maintain professionalism and tact in high-stress situations.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • The ability to design lessons that teach curriculum in an engaging manner, applying various teaching methods, lectures, discussions, demonstrations, and individual or collaborative projects and research.

Qualifications

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Doctorate in Mathematics is preferred.
  • Candidates with a Master's degree and 18 credit hours in Mathematics will be considered.
  • The ideal candidate will have familiarity with Blackboard, hybrid courses, and the ability to utilize innovative modalities for delivering course content.
  • Some walking, climbing stairs, sitting and standing for long period of time.
  • Ability to lift 10lbs. 1% of the time.
