Equipment Manager

Big Canyon Country Club is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Equipment Manager to oversee the maintenance, repair, and inventory of all Golf Course Maintenance equipment and the Maintenance Facilities. The Equipment Manager will play a critical role in ensuring the efficiency and effectiveness of the Golf Course Maintenance operations, contributing directly to the exceptional quality of our golf course.

Duties & Expectations

• Oversee and manage the maintenance, repair, and servicing of all Golf Course Maintenance equipment, including mowers, tractors, sprayers, utility vehicles, and other specialized machinery.
• Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues, as well as perform necessary repairs or coordinate with external vendors for complex repairs.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe maintenance shop environment.
• Manage the inventory of parts, supplies, and tools, ensuring adequate stock levels and cost-effective procurement.
• Collaborate with the Director of Agronomy and other Golf Course Maintenance staff to identify equipment needs and plan for replacements or new acquisitions.
• Ensure all equipment is operated safely and in accordance with manufacturer guidelines and club policies.
• Manage and supervise any assistant equipment technicians, providing guidance and training as needed.
• Stay updated on the latest equipment technologies and best practices in Golf Course Maintenance.
• Assist with budget preparation and management related to equipment maintenance and repair.
• Adhere to the proper recycling and/or disposal of all lubricants, chemicals and any other hazardous materials.
• Develop and implement a preventative maintenance program to ensure optimal equipment performance and longevity.
• Maintain accurate records of all equipment maintenance, repairs, parts inventory, and service schedules.
• Manage the performance of all support vendors and contractors such as equipment dealers, electrical, HVAC, plumbing etc.
• Manage all environmental operating permits such as AQMD, CARB, OSHA, CERS, OCHCA, Fire Dept.
• Ensure regulatory compliance in all areas.
• Assist in other duties as assigned by Director of Agronomy

Skills & Qualifications

• Proven experience (5+ years preferred) as an Equipment Manager or Head Mechanic, preferably within a golf course maintenance operation.
• Strong knowledge of gasoline, diesel, and electric-powered equipment, including hydraulics and electrical systems.
• Excellent diagnostic and problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot and repair complex mechanical issues.
• Proficiency in welding and fabrication.
• Experience with developing and implementing preventative maintenance programs.
• Strong organizational and record-keeping skills, including experience with maintenance management software.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Formal training or certification in equipment maintenance or a related field.
• Experience with Toro, John Deere, and Baroness golf course maintenance equipment.
• Budget management experience.
• Supervisory experience.
• Possess a professional and courteous demeanor when interacting with all departments and members
