KIPP Atlanta Schools is part of the KIPP (Knowledge is Power Program) national network of free, open enrollment, college preparatory schools dedicated to ensuring that every child grows up free to create the future they want for themselves and their communities. There are 280 KIPP schools in 21 states and the District of Columbia serving more than 175,000 scholars and alumni. KIPP Atlanta currently operates 11 schools including five primary schools, six middle schools and one high school, as well as KIPP Forward which supports scholars on their journey to a choice-filled life. Job Summary:

The Regional Facilities Manager is responsible for the day-to-day management and upkeep of each KIPP  Atlanta Schools site.  Reporting to the Director of Facilities, the Regional Facilities Manager directly manages the  Building Engineers. The Regional Facilities Manager ensures that buildings are in good working order and meeting established criteria of excellence and that routine and preventive maintenance is conducted.  The Regional Facilities Manager further supports annual compliance work at each KIPP  Atlanta Schools site.

 

Job Responsibilities:

 

Team Leadership & Management
60%
  • Builds relationships and support of Building Engineers through regular coaching conversations, establishing performance goals, conducting building walks/observations, providing timely feedback, and providing opportunities for professional development opportunities
  • Regularly leading team meetings to ensure the effective cascade of communication, identifying areas of challenge and coordinating necessary changes in response to organizational challenges
  • Hold team accountable to performance goals and metrics identified through organizational planning and as part of their day-to-day duties
  • Provide direction and support to Building Engineers, ensuring that Building Engineers are equipped with the resources and skills to maintain facilities
  • Lead coordination of Building Engineer responses, leveraging Building Engineer skills and knowledge to maintain KIPP  Atlanta Schools facilities
  • Serve as a thought partner to Building Engineers to solve problems and keep KIPP  Atlanta Schools 
  • Proactively identify systems and process to improve efficiencies for maintenance of KIPP  Atlanta Schools 
  • Provide ongoing training and development of Building Engineers subject matter expertise and identify professional development opportunities

 

Administrative & Budget Management

  • Coordinates and partners with the Custodial Services Team for maintenance of the building
  • Makes purchases within budget allocations in accordance with fiscal policy and guidelines 
  • Reviews and approves purchases by Building Engineers ensures each stay within annual budget
  • Supports and participates in all regional operations meetings, activities, and projects
  • Establishes and maintains regional accounts for Facilities Services  (i.e. Uline, HomeDepot)


 

Facilities Support & Compliance
15%
  • Develops and maintains a facilities compliance calendar for all sites and ensure that necessary compliance requirements are met
  • Support with routine and preventative maintenance at KIPP  Atlanta Schools
  • Provide support to the Director of Facilities with identified priorities for building maintenance and ongoing facilities improvements and enhancements
  • Responsible for completing annual inventory, annual compliance inspections, and annual compliance/safety training 

Qualifications

Job Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree required
  • Minimum 5 years professional work experience in field/function, ideally supporting building maintenance at a multi-facility organization
  • Proven knowledge and expertise in mechanical, electrical, or plumbing fields
  • Project Management experience is preferred
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs and stand for long periods of time
  • Must be available to work evenings/weekends 
  • Familiarity with OSHA regulations 
  • Familiarity with Material Safety Data Sheets

 

Compensation & Benefits:

Compensation for this role is between $60,000 - $70,000.  The starting pay will depend on various factors that may include but are not limited to professional experience, education, training, and certifications.

Location & Work Conditions:

This position requires routine physical activity associated with normal office environments and requires candidates to be based in Atlanta and regularly be in schools and able to attend in person meetings and events.  Additional in person time may be necessary based upon organizational needs.
