Child Care Lead Teacher & Teacher

Position Overview: To provide educational and personal assistance to students within the early childhood classroom. This position is directly supervised by the Program Director and is a substitute position. 

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

 

Administrative:

  • Submits time sheets, request for PTO, reimbursement perdiem mileage and any other required documentation.
  • Supports team decisions by representing a positive attitude to others.
  • Participates in scheduled or called program staff meetings.

 

Financial:

  • Not applicable.

 

Supervision:

  • Not applicable.

 

Regulatory:

 

  • Maintains compliance with CACFP guidelines.
  • Adheres to all health and safety guidelines. Follows rules and regulations according to Environmental Health as it pertains to sanitizing and disinfecting solutions used in the classroom and also in the kitchen, ComServ, Inc. Policy and Procedure, and Department of Public Instruction.
  • Follows all federal and state laws, rules and regulations and ComServ, Inc. Policy and Procedures.
  • Has a working knowledge of and adheres to all ComServ, Inc. Policies and Procedures.

 

Documentation:

  • Documents weekly lesson plans for the classroom.
  • Documents any health and safety concerns regarding the children, including state required incident reports. Notifies supervisor.
  • Completes required daily documentation for student attendance and food program.

 

Clinical:

  • Plans and implements daily program of activities for a group of children.
  • Plans and carries out field trips/ community educational opportunities.
  • Participates in team meetings, as requested.
  • Demonstrates ability to be an effective team member.
  • Maintains positive relationships and communications as interactions occur with parents/guardians. Reports concerns to your supervisor.

 

Direct Support:

  • Ensures the classroom is supplied with age appropriate learning materials in the various centers.
  • Maintains visual supervision of children at all times.
  • Engages children in a positive manner throughout the day and maintains a positive atmosphere in the classroom.
  • Implements all behavior, communication, cognitive, motor, social and adaptive behavior programming as determined by the responsible professional.
  • Monitors goals and activities daily in order to provide accurate information and feedback to supervisor.
  • Maintains daily schedule and lesson plans, as instructed.
  • Provides for physical and health needs of students and reports all concerns to supervisor. 
  • Ensures that the classroom is set up to meet the environmental rating scale standards.

 

Other:

 

  • Employee in this position must be flexible with schedule and make changes as requested or required by position responsibilities..
  • Participates on committees as assigned by supervisor.
  • Acts as a role model for other ComServ, Inc. staff and individuals receiving services.
  • Ensures that all ComServ, Inc. equipment or vehicles used in conducting the responsibilities of this position is used in a responsible manner and maintained appropriately.
  • Attend all organizational training required of position. Attends any outside training and education as approved or assigned by supervisor.
  • Ensures and supports cultural competency in conducting responsibilities that is reflective of the community and individuals served in regard to culture, age, gender, sexual orientation, spiritual beliefs, socioeconomic status, and language.
  • Adheres to ComServ, Inc. mission, vision and philosophy.
  • Perform duties deemed appropriate by supervisor.

 

Qualifications

Minimum Education & Experience Requirements:

High School Diploma or equivalency plus 1 year of experience with early childhood. Additionally, Credentials I and II and nine semester hours of early childhood education preferred when working with preschool children.

Experience can include educational and work related experiences.

 

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:

Willingness to learn/expand knowledge in the field of special education for the populations served, ability to communicate and establish good relationships with adults and children; commitment to service to persons with developmental disabilities; adequate abilities to supervise children in a variety of environments.
