Assistant Paralegal
Wheeler Trigg O’Donnell (“WTO”) was established in 1998 and currently numbers more than 100 lawyers. The firm represents sophisticated clients in high-stakes civil trials, appeals, and related litigation ranging from complex commercial to class actions to catastrophic torts. Summary/Objective
Assistant Paralegals on our litigation team will get hands on experience. We are looking for people with strong organizational and time management skills, who want to eventually be able to manage a complex case load from start to finish. A strong technology aptitude is key to this role.
Responsibilities
Assistant Paralegals perform challenging and substantive legal work under the supervision of the Litigation Support Manager, senior paralegals, and attorneys. Key responsibilities include:
- Maintaining case management systems in accordance with firm guidelines
- Learning to analyze case documents to prepare subset compilations for attorney review
- Preparing exhibits and binders for depositions and trials
- Drafting correspondence
- Scheduling and coordinating meetings and depositions
- Assisting with collection and production of documents
- Maintaining litigation databases and providing database search support
- Conducting fact gathering research and assembling background information
- Organizing client files and preparing working notebooks
- Coordinating with his/her team to meet internal and client timeline requirements

Qualifications
- Associate’s degree or Bachelor’s degree is preferred. Paralegal certificate is a plus
- Paralegal certificate is preferred but not required
- 1-2 years in a prior litigation experienced is preferred
- Excellent communication skills

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
Regular hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., including lunch hour. This is a full time position working from our Denver office. Overtime is paid at 1.5 times the hourly pay rate when the employee works more than 40 hours in a Sunday through Saturday work week.
Travel
Travel is limited and primarily local during the business day, although some out-of-area and overnight travel may be needed to attend conferences or other professional functions.
Salary Range: $53,000 - $56,000 annually. The final salary will be commensurate with education and experience. Additionally, the firm provides standard benefits including health insurance, 401(k) contribution, and paid time off, with annual bonus potential based on firm performance.
