Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Possess a complete set of mechanic tools.
- Must be proficient in the use of computers.
- Knowledge of electrical wiring fundamentals.
- Ability to read manuals and schematics.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to make independent decisions within scope of responsibility.
Emotional, Psychological and Physical Requirements:
Ability to:
- Handle long hours and stressful situations
- Handle emergency situations
- Make quick and concise decisions under pressure
- Deal with the public on a secondary basis
- Greet and meet with visitors, clearly disseminate information to others
- Concentrate on priority tasks with frequent interruptions
Physically:
- Constantly moves about and works in varying weather conditions
- Ability to moves throughout facilities and grounds
- Ability to work on the road in varying weather conditions assisting in maintenance operations
- Ability to lift at least 60 lb., occasionally.
- Ability to be nimble and work in confined spaces
Additional/Miscellaneous/Special Requirements:
- Possesses or ability to obtain a Class B (Passenger and Air-Brake endorsement) Commercial Driver’s License with P endorsement within 60 days of hire.
- Must successfully complete and pass: criminal background and child protective services check upon hire and must be maintained throughout employment.
- Must successfully complete and pass drug screen testing upon hire and as regularly required by policy for position.
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Relevant technical school training is beneficial but not required.
- Minimum two (2) years of vehicle maintenance or mechanic experience required. Diesel mechanic experience is preferred.
- Extensive experience may be considered in lieu of educational background.
