Stylist

Job Summary:

Perform hair, scalp and nail care procedures (as licensed) necessary for the general well-being and comfort of residents and employees.

Job Duties/Responsibilities:

• Perform skills and tasks related to hair, scalp, and nail care (as licensed) of residents, team members, and community according to the guidelines established by the State Board of Cosmetology

• Responsible for sterilization and sanitation in their area according to State law

• Maintain the service room in a neat, clean order

• Schedules service appointments and takes payments for services through the point of sale system

• Communicate product needs with the Lead Stylist or Salon Services Manager as appropriate

• Communicate possible health care and safety needs to the coordinators of the appropriate levels of living

• Responsible to return personal belongings (i.e. eyeglasses, hearing aids) to the resident being serviced

• Follow emergency procedures and responds rapidly and appropriately to emergencies, ensuring the safety of the residents and team members

• Follow proper procedures and promote safe work practices in order to maintain a safe working environment

• Follow departmental policies and procedures to ensure a productive working environment

• Work cooperatively and productively with others, including residents, families, and other employees

• Willingness to work under direction and supervision

• Maintain strict confidentiality regarding resident information as well as other information pertaining to the business of Messiah Lifeways

• Additional duties and tasks as assigned by the Salon Services Manager or Lead Stylist

• Responsible for reviewing each day’s schedule for accuracy

Required Skills/Abilities:

• Must be able to communicate well in both verbal and non-verbal forms

• Must be kind, courteous, tactful and sensitive to the needs of the residents

• Must be respectful of the rights and confidentiality of others

• Must be able to do gel manicures, regular manicures, and pedicures

• Must be able to do waxing and hair services

Education/Experience:

• Required to have current Barber or Cosmetology Operator's License in the State of Pennsylvania and be able to perform standard cosmetology skills (cutting, styling, rolling a permanent wave).
