Job Title: Pre-Team and Competitive Team Gymnastics Instructor/Coach                                                                   

Hours: At least 3 days a week between 3:30-8:00pm

Department: Gymnastics

Reports to: Gymnastics Director

Rate: $15/hr

Leadership Level: Leader                                                                     Revision Date: 10/24/2023

POSITION SUMMARY:

This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. Delivers excellent service to all members, guests, and program participants.  Responds to member and guest needs, promotes memberships and programs, and maintains cleanliness and organization of the lobby area.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Promote Youth Development by providing and applying intentional coaching skills and techniques at each practice and every program.
  • Lead gymnastics classes while modeling and teaching program participants the qualities of the Y’s core character values of Caring, Respect, Responsibility, and Honesty.
  • Develop positive relationships with gymnasts.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and precisely with children, families, staff, and members.
  • Assist in developing and appropriately adapting a weekly practice structure and program curriculum.
  • Ensure that program standards are met and safety procedures followed.
  • Respond to and report accidents and injuries in a timely manner..
  • Assist in the retention of existing members and engagement of new members by being knowledgeable of Gymnastics programming.
  • Attends mandatory trainings and meetings.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Certifications required within 30 days of hire: American Red Cross CPR/AED and First Aid
  • The following trainings provided by the Y: Appropriate Touch; Child Sexual Abuse Prevention; Harassment Prevention; Hazard Communication for Employees; Managing Your Risk of Exposure to Bloodbourne Pathogens; Preventing Member and Guest Slips, Trips, and Falls; Risk Management 101; Safe Lifting; Social Media & Digital Communications
  • Excellent interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
  • Previous gymnastics and/or choreography knowledge and experience.
  • A background in competitive Gymnastics preferred.
  • Prior supervisory or managerial experience preferred.
  • Ability to consistently work scheduled shifts and attend staff meetings.
  • Ability to work in a high paced environment, handling multiple tasks concurrently.

  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.

  • Black staff shirt and exercise attire pants or appropriate length shorts
