The Auctioneer Bar (under new management), the centerpiece of Durham Food Hall, is seeking an enthusiastic and career-minded Bartender to guide our lively bar crew. The Auctioneer Bar is known for their craft cocktails, local beer, curated wines, and sustainable values. The Auctioneer prides itself on highlighting local and regional spirits, housemade items like syrups, cordials, and dehydrated garnishes along with products that maintain organic or biodynamic values. We prepare drinks for guests at a fast pace while maintaining the utmost warmth and welcoming hospitality. The Auctioneer Bar is the heart of the hall, often making the bartenders a main attraction. Bartenders must know how to command a busy room and also seek out opportunities for sales during slower times. Durham Food Hall is an inclusive and fun community space for both locals and visitors to enjoy. Surrounded by 7 chef-driven restaurants, a coffee shop, bubble tea, and a bakery, no two days are the same behind the bar. Responsibilities:

  • Working bar shifts independently or with the team
  • Maintaining an organized and visually appealing bar (coolers, prep space, work fridges, liquor room etc)
  • Assisting in the creation of new cocktails
  • Maintaining stock of pars and keeping coolers stocked
  • Ability to help in crafting in-house bar items - infusing, simmering, and dehydrating
  • Seeking out sales opportunities not just behind the bar, but also with the many guests in the dining room
  • Making regulars during every shift
  • Stocking, cleaning, organizing, and notifying management when inventory is getting low
  • Providing daily communication between bartenders and management on bar happenings, guest requests, and stock

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 1 years bartending experience
  • Craft cocktail experience preferred
  • A working knowledge of beer and wine and spirits
  • Extreme customer service focus and the ability to start a conversation with anyone
  • Sense of personal responsibility
  • Ability to work well as part of a team
  • A strong work ethic with willingness to go above and beyond
  • Excellent cash handling experience
  • Ability to keep a clean and organized workspace
  • Superb awareness and communication skills

The Auctioneer Bar's pay is based on experience.
*Must be able to stand, bend, crouch, and twist.
*The average shift is 8 hours. Must be able to work the entirety of the shift with little break time.
*Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds, sometimes over your head.
*Must be able to work with chemicals and in varying temperatures.

Compensation: $10.00 - $15.00 + tips
