Description

The function of the Director of Education is to provide clinical professional development and education services by assisting clinical staff in preparing for clinical practice and supporting them in acquiring the knowledge and skills to perform job duties. Onsite 5 days week.

 

Job Responsibilities

  • Ensuring educational activities are congruent with St. Croix Hospice mission, vision, values and strategic plan.
  • Adheres to CHAP education standards for all employees. 
  • Works with on-line training program to maintain training records and tracking.
  • Capable of learning and training staff into EMR.  
  • Develop, plan, and present educational opportunities/programs that directly or indirectly foster the development and competence of the clinical team. 
  • Assisting learners to identify both their learning needs and the effective learning activities required to meet those needs while fostering a positive attitude about the benefits of continuing education.
  • Identifying changes that should be made in clinical practice using an evidence­ based approach and facilitating the initiation of, adoption of, and adaptation to change.
  • Acting as both a formal and informal consultant, assisting with the integration of new learning into clinical practice and serving as a resource by assisting the clinical team in identifying problems, identifying available internal and external educational resources, and selecting educational options.
  • Designing, creating, and applying research by supporting the integration of research into practice and helping to develop staff members' knowledge and skills in the research process, as well as fostering the use of systematic evaluative research with regard to clinical, educational, and managerial data.
  • Modeling behaviors reflect affiliations with professional organizations as well as the community.
  • Maintaining clinical competence in the area of hospice.
  • Integrating ethical principles into all aspects of practice.
  • Providing ongoing evaluation of the quality and effectiveness of the educational activities to ensure that they maintain and enhance professional development that promotes the delivery of cost-effective high-quality healthcare.

Qualifications

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
  • 3+ years of hospice experience
  • 1+ years of recent experience in nurse education preferred.
  • CHPN certified or ability to obtain.
  • Current RN licensure in Minnesota and ability to obtain additional state licensures will be required
  • Excellent observation, verbal and written communication skills, problem solving skills, basic math skills; nursing skills per competency checklist.
  • Prolonged or considerable walking or standing.  Able to lift, position and/or transfer patients.  Able to lift supplies and equipment.  Considerable reaching, stooping bending, kneeling and/or crouching. Visual acuity and hearing to perform required nursing skills
  • Must be a licensed driver with an automobile that is insured in accordance with state/or organization requirements and is in good working order.
  • Must be able to organize educational programs and orchestrate delivery.
  • Must have good public speaking skills.

 

The starting salary range for this role is $115,000-$125,000 annual base salary.  An employee’s actual annual salary will be based on but not limited to: geographic location, relevant education, applicable certifications, depth of experience, and special skillsets. The total compensation package for this position may also include the opportunity to participate in employee benefits including our medical/dental/vision/pet insurance, disability and life insurance, paid time off, and 401(k) retirement plans, subject to applicable plan terms, and/or eligibility for other compensation.
