Assignment Focus:
A therapist is responsible for accepting referrals and maintaining a client load (minimum 20 clinical hours per week).
Role:
Through a respectful, constructive and energetic style, guided by the mission of the clinic, a therapist will seek to facilitate hope and change in the lives of their clients.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Counsel clients or patients individually and/or within family sessions, to assist in overcoming dependencies, adjusting to life, or making changes.
- Make internal referrals to IOP if little to no improvement occurs within 8 weeks of OP therapy.
- Guide clients in the development of skills or strategies for dealing with their problems.
- Develop and implement treatment plans based on clinical experience and knowledge, establishing SMART goals with the patient. Treatment plans are to be developed 72 hours after intake and updated / modified every 4 weeks.
- Fill out and maintain client-related paperwork, including client diagnostic records and progress notes. Progress notes are to be developed 48 hours after every session.
- Prepare and maintain all required treatment records and reports.
- Evaluate clients' physical or mental condition, based on review of client information.
- Collaborate with other staff members to perform clinical assessments or develop treatment plans within 2 days of establishing care with the existing patient.
- Refer patients, clients, or family members to community resources or to specialists as necessary.
- Learn about new developments in counseling by reading professional literature, attending courses and seminars, or establishing and maintaining contact with other social service agencies.
