Description

Job Summary: The Maintenance Assistant is responsible for cleaning facilities, testing pool water, and assisting with various projects as directed by the Buildings Maintenance Foreperson. PT2 position - approximately 20-24 hours per week, hours to be determined by Building Services Foreperson.  PT 2 Benefits listed below.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • None

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Operates Park District vehicles and equipment
  • Assist with maintenance and repair of walls, floors, ceilings, interior and exterior building surfaces
  • Promptly report all unsafe actions, practices or conditions to the immediate supervisor
  • Move furniture, equipment and various supplies as needed
  • Regularly test pool water chemicals
  • Clean washrooms, locker rooms, and maintains cleanliness of various facilities
  • Receives regular verbal or written directions from immediate supervisor or designated on site supervisor
  • Actively support the agencys risk management protocol that will effectively control and reduce accidents
  • Obey the practical safety rules, regulations and procedures established by the Safety Committee, attend and participate in required safety trainings
  • Promptly report all unsafe actions, practices or conditions to the immediate supervisor
  • Actively contribute to the Park District's sustainability goals
  • Perform other related duties as assigned, based on agency needs

Required Skills/Abilities (Technology, Mathematical, Language):

Education and/or Experience:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience

Physical Requirements/Work Environment:

  • Frequently required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls, reach with hands and arms, push, pull, carry, and repeatedly stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
  • Occasionally required to sit, climb or balance
  • Regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds
  • Specific vision abilities including close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus
  • Frequently works near moving mechanical parts and is frequently exposed to vibration
  • Occasionally work in high precarious places and in outside weather conditions including but not limited to wet and/or humid conditions
  • Exposure to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, extreme cold, extreme heat, and risk of electrical shock
  • The noise level of the work environment is usually loud

Required Certificates/Licenses/Registrations:

  • Must be 18 years or older
  • Must have a valid Illinois drivers license
