Description

Job Summary: The Campus Club Counselor is responsible for implementing and supervising a wide variety of activities for school-age children in an after-school setting. The Campus Club Counselor plays a key role in ensuring program participants have a safe, supportive, fun, interactive experience while engaging with children during free play. Campus Club program locations include Centennial Recreation Complex, McKenzie Elementary School, Romona Elementary School, and the Lakeview Center.

Centennial Campus Club

M-Th 3:00-6:00 pm

F 2:00-6:00 pm

Students are dismissed from school and are bussed over to Centennial Recreation Complex, where staff will take attendance. Students will have their snack, then enrichment classes take place from 4:00-4:45 pm. Staff resumes basic childcare supervision and activities until all students are picked up. The program ends at 6:00 pm.

McKenzie Campus Club

M-Th 3:00-6:00 pm

F 2:00-6:00 pm

Students are dismissed from school and report to the school cafeteria, where staff will take attendance. Students will have their snack, then enrichment classes take place from 4:00-4:45 pm. Staff resumes basic childcare supervision and activities until all students are picked up. The program ends at 6:00 pm.

Romona Campus Club

M-Th 3:00-6:00 pm

F 2:00-6:00 pm

Lakeview Campus Club

Staff resumes basic childcare supervision and activities until all students are picked up. The program ends at 6:00 pm.

 

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • None

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Create a safe, supportive, interactive and engaging environment for youth
  • Positively interact with youth, parents/guardians and other team members to create a respectful, warm, supportive environment
  • Maintains accurate attendance, instructional and other records as necessary
  • Communicate with parents during pick up
  • Escort children to classes depending on the program
  • Communicate consistently with supervisors and other team leaders
  • Ensure compliance with established rules and regulations to ensure safety
  • Keep assigned areas clean and sanitize as needed
  • Actively support the agency’s risk management protocol that will effectively control and reduce accidents
  • Obey the practical safety rules, regulations and procedures established by the Safety Committee, attend and participate in required safety trainings
  • Promptly report all unsafe actions, practices or conditions to the immediate supervisor
  • Perform other related duties as assigned, based on agency needs

  • Ability to lead daily activities including but not limited to snack, homework help, arts & crafts, various games
  • Ability to deliver information in a clear and effective manner

  • Ability to interpret instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
  • Ability to take initiative and use good judgement in responding to situations that arise

Education and/or Experience:

  • Must be at least 15 years of age with a work permit
  • Experience working with children is preferred

Physical Requirements/Work Environment:

  • Exposure to cleaning and disinfecting supplies
  • Must be able to lift and/or move 25 pounds
  • Frequently required to stand and walk
  • Occasionally required to sit, climb or balance
  • The noise in the work environment is generally moderate to loud
