Position Summary: Under the leadership and direction of the Camp Director, Summer Camp Counselors are responsible for ensuring camper safety, creating a welcoming and inclusive environment for our campers, and implementing lesson plans and activities. We offer numerous types of camps in English, French, Chinese, and Spanish. Our camps are for children ages 3-14, are each a week long, and run Monday-Friday from 8:30am-5:30pm throughout the summer. Our Summer Programs run Monday through Friday, from 8:30 AM to 5:30 PM, between June 9th and August 8th, 2025. Required camp training will take place on June 6th and 7th. Please note, there will be no camps on June 19th and July 4th. This position does not offer remote work flexibility.

  • Follow lesson plans (as Lead Counselor) and/or assist with the implementation of lesson plans (as Assistant Counselor) activities that fit the children’s needs and interests.

  • Provide a safe and healthy environment, both physically and mentally, to ensure the operation of a quality summer camp program.

  • Ensures children are aware of rules, and daily scheduled routines.

  • Appropriately respond to and redirect undesirable camper behavior.

  • Reports all accidents to the Camp Director, and completely fills out proper health log and/or accident/incident form.

  • Make sure proper procedures are followed for sign-in/out of children on a daily basis

  • Attend all staff meetings and in-service as required.

  • Takes responsibility for the quality of the supplies, equipment and materials.

  • Interact positively and energetically with all campers, parents/guardians, and staff.

  • Display responsibility and professionalism.

  • Work after-care twice per week (3:45pm-5:30pm).

  • All other duties assigned by Management.

Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Must possess current CPR and First Aid licensing (or be willing to acquire).

  • Must attend and complete all mandatory training prior to start date.

  • Must have excellent leadership skills.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

  • Desire and ability to work with children of all ages.

  • Demonstrated responsibility and dependability.

  • Must exhibit patience and understanding.

  • Receives and follows detailed instructions. Must be alert at all times, keeping safety in mind. Must possess acceptable hearing and visual capabilities in order to monitor the environment and children’s well-being.

Required Experience:

  • One year of childcare experience
  • 18 years of age (Junior Camp Counselors must be 16 years of age)
  • Proficiency in Spanish, French, or Chinese (preferred, not required)

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, use hands to handle, reach with hands and arms, see, talk, and hear. The employee may occasionally be required to bend, stoop, kneel and lift items weighing up to 20 pounds.

Location and Schedule: Our camps run Monday-Friday from 8:30am-5:30pm. Our main Summer Programs run from June 5th-July 28th with additional camps from July 31st-August 11th. There are no camps June 19th, July 3rd and 4th. This job does not have remote work flexibility.

  • For those looking for additional hours, there are opportunities to work pre-camp the last few weeks in May and post-camp in August.

Salary Range: Pay is $19/hr for a Junior Counselor, $20/hr for Assistant Counselor and $22/hr for Lead Counselors.
