The primary responsibilities of the position are to directly support all aspects of the national development office. The development assistant will provide administrative support including assisting with major projects (special events and mass mailings), general office management, organizing calendar and travel, generating reports, managing petty cash and preparing expense reports, gifts processing, drafting thank you letters and other correspondence to donors, representing the program to board members, donors and various other constituent groups. Other responsibilities include general database support, event support, mailings, research and other general development administrative duties.
The Development Assistant must be highly motivated, organized, resourceful, enthusiastic, an excellent communicator and writer, hard-working, independent and knowledgeable in basic computer skills and database management. The assistant reports to the Chief Development Officer and the Vice President of Development, supports the senior leadership and overall national development effort.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Arrange travel arrangements, prepare expense reports, schedule meetings, both internal and external for the Chief Development Officer and the Vice President of Development.
- Assist the National Directors of Development with scheduling meetings, preparing expense reports, invoices and other special projects.
- Provide support for special events and mass mailings.
- Conduct and compile donor research.
- Process online donations and checks using Raiser’s Edge Database.
- Prepare donor acknowledgments and receipts.
- Cover phones and front desk management at scheduled intervals.
