Job Summary

The Assistant Director of Advancement Services is responsible for supporting the fundraising operations through prospect research, data management, and ensuring database integrity.

 

The Assistant Director of Advancement Services plays a vital role in driving data-informed fundraising strategies through prospect research, data analytics, and database management. This position combines traditional prospect research with modern data visualization and database administration to support the university's advancement goals.

 

Prospect Research & Wealth Intelligence

  • Lead comprehensive prospect research utilizing industry-standard tools including LexisNexis, iWave, ResearchPoint, LinkedIn Sales Navigator, and the Foundation Directory Online.
  • Develop detailed prospect profiles and wealth assessments for major gift officers and university leadership.
  • Monitor news alerts and social media for relevant donor and prospect developments.
  • Create systematic approaches to identify new prospects through data mining and wealth screening.

 

Data Analytics & Visualization

  • Design and maintain interactive dashboards and reports using tools including, Excel, BatchGeo, and Prezi to communicate fundraising metrics and trends.
  • Provide fundraiser performance metrics for frontline fundraisers and assist in assigning major gift prospects for discovery and qualification and annual fund prospects for student and annual fund efforts.
  • Use predictive models to prioritize prospect identification and portfolio management.
  • Provide data that is both accurate and communicates “the story” for University leadership.

 

Database Management & Data Integrity

  • Serve as a secondary administrator for The Raiser's Edge NXT database, ensuring data accuracy and consistency. Utilize other industry tools such as Cvent for event registrations.
  • Utilize our data entry protocols and quality control procedures.
  • Coordinate regular data append services through vendors like NCOA and Alumni Finder
  • Assist in routine database maintenance including duplicate resolution, biographical updates, and relationship management
  • Assist with batch updates of wealth screening results and external data imports and exports.

 

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in related field (Business Analytics, Information Systems, or similar)
  • 5+ years of experience in advancement services, prospect research, or related field
  • Proven expertise with The Raiser's Edge NXT or similar advancement CRM
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel, including pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, and data modeling
  • Experience with data visualization tools and presentation software
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Prospect Research Requests from producing full profiles to short research. (30%)
  • Maintain and evolve our data management dashboards. (25%)
  • Database Integrity. (30%)
  • Other duties as assigned, including supporting team events and functions within and outside of Advancement. (15%)
