The Health and Wellness program at Iona University is seeking an experienced, knowledgeable, and student-focused adjunct instructor to teach HW 130 Nutrition Fundamentals for Health and Wellness. This course introduces essential concepts in nutrition science relevant to health and wellness fields. Key topics include macronutrients, micronutrients, dietary guidelines, and the role of nutrition in disease prevention and management. Other topics include practical applications such as meal planning and dietary choices, an understanding of nutritional needs of diverse populations, and the use of evidence-based nutrition principles in allied health settings. We are seeking a proactive, innovative, and engaging individual who can integrate various technologies into their teaching (i.e., Blackboard Ultra, etc.). The individual will teach utilizing laboratory techniques/exercises and materials as needed for hands-on learning. The class will be held at the Iona University Bronxville campus

 

Responsibilities include:

  1. Course instruction: Deliver high-quality, engaging instruction based on the approved syllabus, including lectures, discussions, and practical applications of course content.
  2. Assessment and Evaluation: Design and administer assessments, including quizzes, exams, assignments, and projects, to gauge student comprehension and course progression.
  3. Student Engagement: Create a dynamic and inclusive classroom atmosphere that encourages participation, critical thinking, and application of nutrition principles in health and wellness contexts.
  4. Office Hours: Offer regular in-person or virtual office hours to provide academic support, guidance, and mentorship to students as needed.
  5. Compliance: Ensure adherence to university policies and department guidelines, including attendance, grading, and classroom conduct standards.

 

 

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  1. Education: Master’s degree or higher in Nutrition, Dietetics, Health Sciences, or a closely related field. A Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) credential is preferred.
  2. Experience: Previous teaching experience in a college or university setting, preferably in nutrition or health sciences. Clinical experience in nutrition or wellness is a plus.
  3. Skills: Strong knowledge of nutrition science, excellent communication skills, and proficiency in learning management systems (LMS) and instructional technologies.
  4. Commitment: Dedication to fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment that values diverse perspectives.

Salary Range: $1248 - $1531 per credit based on course level and qualifications
