Description

The Arts and Languages Department at Iona University, New Rochelle, NY, announces a search for a full-time clinical, non-tenured faculty member to teach all levels of Spanish language, as well as specific content courses in area of expertise, especially Latin American culture and literature, and/or linguistics. This is a full-time renewable appointment contingent upon a successful review, with a teaching load of four courses per semester. Candidates should hold a Ph.D. in Spanish, Latin American Studies, Spanish Linguistics (with an emphasis on second language acquisition), or a related field. Preference will be given to candidates with strong evidence of excellence in language teaching at the university level. Experience teaching Spanish for Health Professions and/or Spanish for Heritage Speakers is a plus. Native or near-native proficiency in English and Spanish is required.

The lecturer will contribute to the department's efforts regarding student recruitment, retention, and success. Active participation in program and department committees, functions, and operations will be required, together with the ability to work in a collegial setting. This hire is for January 2025 start date.
