The Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders in the New York Presbyterian-Iona School of Health Sciences at Iona University, located in vibrant Bronxville, NY seeks an enthusiastic, collaborative, and innovative tenure-track Assistant Professor to join our ASHA/CAA-accredited graduate program and thriving undergraduate program. As a member of our growing and dynamic team, the faculty member will immerse themselves in an environment dedicated to academic excellence, student-centered teaching, and interprofessional collaboration. We seek applicants with expertise in one or more of the following areas: adult language, voice disorders, and fluency.  The role offers a wealth of opportunities to make a significant impact on students, the university, and the field of communication sciences and disorders.  Responsibilities include teaching graduate and undergraduate students, mentoring student research, developing a discipline-informed curriculum, establishing a productive scholarship agenda, having a record of service to the School/University, and working collaboratively with colleagues in the department and across the university. This is a 10-month tenure-track faculty position that will begin in January 2025. 

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Create student-centered learning environment for in-person academic instruction with virtual supplementary course delivery as needed
  • Deliver engaging, evidence-based classes that inspires knowledge and equips students with clinical competencies and skills development
  • Contribute to the curriculum development of both undergraduate and graduate programs
  • Engage in scholarship that advances and disseminates knowledge and aligns with the ASHA/CAA accreditation standards and Iona University.
  • Mentor and guide students in research
  • Remain current with clinical practices and evidence that support content area expertise and professional growth
  • Contribute to the department, school, university, and discipline through active service and committee involvement
  • Fulfill other duties and responsibilities as requested by the Program Director, Department Chair and the Dean, New York-Presbyterian Iona School of Health Sciences.
  • Engage in academic mentorship with students as needed.

 

Qualifications

Required Qualifications and Experience

  • PhD in Communication Sciences and Disorders or a related field (ABD candidates may apply).
  • Must hold Certificate of Clinical Competency through the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association
  • Minimum of three years of clinical practice
  • Previous teaching experience at college level
  • Applicants should have academic and clinical expertise in one or more of the following areas: adult language, voice disorders, fluency are preferred but other areas of research and clinical focus will be considered.
