Iona University, an NCAA Division I institution and a member of the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference, is seeking a highly motivated individual for the position of Head Coach for its inaugural varsity women’s golf program. This is a part-time position and reports to the Director of Men’s and Women’s Golf. The Head Women’s Golf Coach will be responsible for developing, promoting and supervising all facets of the University’s Women’s Golf program. This position will oversee the academic excellence of all student-athletes that are involved with the program, and provide a foundation, vision and leadership for women’s golf at Iona.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

Beginning during the 2024-25 academic year, establish the program by building infrastructure, recruiting qualified student-athletes, and holding practice and conditioning sessions. Planned first season of DI NCAA competition is tentatively set for the 2025-26 year.

 

  • Training/Practice Preparation: Establish a vision for the program. Plan, prepare, and execute practice plans, strategies, and alternatives which are designed to bring success to the program.
  • Game Preparation: Design a competitive schedule that maximizes athlete development and performances. Relate in a positive and effective manner with officials, opponents, parents, media, and the public.
  • Recruiting: Recruit quality athletes capable of pursuing the baccalaureate degree in accordance with the rules and regulations of the governing bodies and in such a manner that reflects the best interests of the program and the University.
  • Budgeting and Fundraising: Participate in the formulation of budget and ensure that the program operates within the approved budgetary parameters. Work in coordination with the Director of Finance for Athletics and the Sr. Associate AD/Development to meet the programs fundraising goals.
  • Administrative Compliance: Ensure that all relevant institutional, conference, and NCAA rules and regulations are followed including, but not limited to, player eligibility, recruiting, financial student aid, scheduling, and academic progress. Assist the Associate AD/Compliance in preparing all required documentation.
