Position must be able to quickly and accurately assess and interpret data about the Consumer’s status to identify each Consumer’s needs and direct the Consumer/family to the appropriate age-related level of care and services. Responsibilities will include:
- During shift hours, is primarily responsible for responding to crisis in the community from designated police departments based on program schedule (either via ride-along or meeting police on scene) to complete a level of care assessment as part of the ARRIVE initiative.
- When not responding to active crisis calls, staff will work with police to complete follow ups from calls that police have responded to outside of shift hours for those with mental health concerns.
- Daily tasks include: Assessment, referral, linkage, hotline coverage, crisis stabilization, development of alternative treatment plans, consultation, providing technical assistance to other clinical staff, consultation with psychiatrist, supervision and monitoring of patients, screening of patients as per the NJ State Screening Law.
- Responsible for creating and maintaining positive professional relationships with police.
- Must be a self-starter and consistently maintain a high level of initiative and productivity to meet the department’s goals and objectives.
- Must possess excellent time management and organization skills.
- Decision skills must be precise, with the ability to problem solve, negotiate, multi-task and connect Consumers safely to the most appropriate, least restrictive treatment environment, per the screening evaluation.
- Must be able to interpret and exercise the New Jersey Screening Law.
- Required to report to work in inclement weather.
- May also be asked by the Director to participate in special projects as needed.
Legacy operates the State-designated Screening and Crisis Intervention Program for Burlington County, providing evaluations 24 hours a day, 365 days a year to individuals experiencing a psychiatric crisis or posing a danger to self, others or property.
We make it our priority to screen and triage individuals in crisis within community settings as opposed to a hospital setting. Our certified screeners and mental health professionals work together to stabilize the crisis and determine the most appropriate, least restrictive treatment option.
