JOB SUMMARY:

Position assists in providing and maintaining a positive, strength-based, developmentally appropriate therapeutic environment that is in keeping with the values and clinical treatment philosophy of Legacy Treatment Services.


Position responsibilities include:
Maintains 100% supervision of Consumers 24/7 in home setting, during travel, at recreational activities or as assigned
Participates in therapeutically designed home and recreational activities
Models professional behavior (words and action), demonstrates rapport-building and maintains appropriate boundaries with Consumers
Provide Consumers with therapeutic support services such as recreation, life skills training, problem solving skills and anger management skills
Works with the leadership team in the house to identify supportive therapy services for individual Consumers and conducts Psycho-Educational Groups for the Consumers.
Actively engages in all pre crisis and crisis interventions seeking to establish a positive outcome
Participate in quality improvement activities, including incident/accident/grievance review, peer record review, satisfaction surveys, Program evaluation and quality improvement projects at the program level
Demonstrates knowledge in job responsibilities, including the Electronic Health Record and Medication Management System, so as to act in a training capacity as needed (for this home or others).
Provide all necessary documentation of Consumer behavior using approved Legacy format
Participate as an active member of the Treatment Team
Attends Legacy and external trainings in pursuit of professional development and career growth
Enacts Legacys Mission Statement at all times
Assist with the transportation of Consumers in Agency vehicles
May serve as a primary advocate for up to three Consumers
Adhere to all Agency policies and procedures, licensing and accreditation standards
Attend all required Program and Agency meetings
Cooperate with Office of Licensing and any other Department of Children and Families staff in any inspection or investigation.
Additional related duties as assigned by the Adolescent Residential Services Management Team
May be required to work at alternate locations based on staffing needs

Qualifications

EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor's Degree in a social science, psychology, education, child development or other closely related fields or, in lieu of a Bachelors Degree, High School Diploma or GED and minimum of three (3) years experience working with children. Must maintain 12 hours yearly in required areas: substance abuse, HIV and sexuality, suicide prevention and behavior management. Must attend cultural competence workshops when available and various ongoing trainings related to the population served. CPR and First Aid Training must be maintained.

SPECIAL EQUIPMENT, SKILLS, OR OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

Must have Child Abuse Record Information (CARI)/Criminal History Record Information (CHRI), physical and PPD test completed prior to hire. CARI will need to be completed biennially, prior to Program inspection. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills required. Ability to operate fax, copier, scanner, telephone and computer. Demonstrated computer skills and ability to work in multiple computer systems/environments. Employee must possess a valid drivers license and if duties require driving, be able to drive an Agency owned vehicle.


WORK ENVIRONMENT AND HAZARDS:

May become involved in physical crisis management. Risk of exposure to communicable diseases.


WORK CONTACT GROUP: All internal management, staff, Consumers and the community.


SPECIAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Must be able to sit, stand, walk, run, bend, push, pull and lift up to 25 pounds. Must be able travel with Consumers and be able to get in and out of a vehicle. Cognitive, verbal, and manual skills necessary. Hearing and visual acuity necessary; corrective devices are acceptable. Must be able to work under required deadlines and schedules, while being flexible to special requests and projects. Must be able to professionally handle stressful situations.
