Assistant Men’s Basketball Coach – Linfield University

 

Location: McMinnville, OR

Position Type: Part-Time

FLSA Status: Exempt

Department: Athletics

Reports To: Head Men’s Basketball Coach & Athletic Director


Linfield University is seeking a passionate and dedicated Assistant Men’s Basketball Coach to join our Athletics Department. This part-time position plays a crucial role in supporting the Head Coach in all aspects of the program, including recruiting, training, scouting, and game preparation.

Key Responsibilities:

 

• Assist in recruiting prospective student-athletes, including attending events and coordinating campus visits.

• Establish and maintain a recruiting database.

• Help organize travel arrangements, game schedules, and pre/post-game meals.

• Assist in practice planning and on-court coaching.

• Support scouting efforts, video analysis, and game strategy development.

• Monitor the academic progress of student-athletes.

• Participate in fundraising and community engagement activities.

• Aid in venue maintenance and event preparation.

• Lead or contribute to strength and conditioning programs (preferred).

• Other duties as assigned by the Head Coach.

 

Qualifications:

 

Required:

• Bachelor's degree and at least three years of coaching experience at the college or high school level, or an equivalent combination of education and playing/coaching experience.

• Valid driver’s license with a good driving record.

• CPR/First Aid certification (can be obtained on the job).


Preferred:

• NCAA Division III coaching and recruiting experience.

• Strength and Conditioning Certification (e.g., CSCS).

 

Physical & Work Requirements:

 

• Frequent walking, standing, running, and demonstrating basketball techniques.

• Ability to climb stairs and operate a motor vehicle.

• Evening and weekend availability required.
