Duties and Responsibilities:

Responsible for carrying out operations for the fire department under the supervision of a Lieutenant or Captain.

  • Perform all duties related to fire rescue, including connecting and carrying fire hoses, carrying, and setting up ladders, directing water and chemicals on burning structures, vegetation, vehicle, and other objects.
  • Hazardous material response.
  • Disaster assistance.
  • Rescue persons trapped in vehicles, burning buildings, and other places.
  • Observe and follow safety rules and regulations including wearing safety apparel and devices during the course and scope of job-related duties.
  • Inspect equipment and supplies daily to ensure that all emergencies can be handled; restock supplies.
  • Prepares various activity reports and other documentation.
  • Attend and complete all training as required.
  •  Maintain required certifications.
  • Clean apparatus and equipment.
  • Report for duty on time and able to perform tasks.
  • Report to work free from the effects of illegal drugs or alcohol, and report to work free from impairment due to prescription drugs.
  • Ability to lift and carry 120 lbs.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Shall have a current certification through SFFMA to a FF-1 within 2 years of appointment.
  • Obtain a valid CPR card through AHA within 6 months of appointment and maintain thereafter.
  • Shall have a valid Texas Class C Driver’s License.
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • Must have NIMS 100, 200, 700, 800 within 30 days of appointment.
  • Driving records must comply with departments driving guidelines
