The Door empowers educationally and economically disadvantaged youth to reach their potential by providing a complete range of services all under one roof. Each year over 11,000 young people from all five New York City boroughs come to The Door for primary health care, reproductive care, health education, dental services, eye care services, mental health counseling, legal services, supportive housing, GED, ESL, tutoring and homework help, college preparation and computer classes, career & education services, job placement, daily meals, cultural arts, and services.
Position Overview:
The Nurse Practitioner will function in an expanded role, in the Adolescent Health Center, in the areas of primary care, family planning services, reproductive health care, and trans health services.
Responsibilities:
- Assesses the health status of patients via history taking, physical examination, and laboratory tests within their scope of practice.
- Plan and provide primary, reproductive and gender affirming health care, utilizing consultation and referrals when needed.
- Recognizes and manages specific common deviations from wellness and health maintenance which is determined by protocol or consultation with physician staff.
- Prescribe drugs, devices, immunizing agents, tests, and procedures as medically indicated.
- Works with patients (and family, if applicable) to ensure an understanding of and compliance with the therapeutic regimen with established protocols and recognize when to refer the patient to a physician or other health care provider.
- Performs other relevant duties as delegated by supervisor.
- Bilingual (Spanish or French) a plus!
Qualifications:

Currently licensed/registered by the state of New York as a Registered Nurse and Nurse Practitioner

Family Nurse Practitioner or Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner board certification required

DEA Controlled Substance Registration Certificate

Three plus years of experience

Strong LARC procedural skills

Adolescent Health, Women’s Health, Family Planning and/or Gender Affirming experience

Proficiency in use of electronic medical records, preferably eClinicalWorks (eCW) software

Demonstrates ability to work in a holistic, multi-disciplinary, fast-paced environment.

Compassionate and energetic provider with excellent oral and written communication skills.

Demonstrated experience working with diverse and/or high-risk populations.

Bilingual English / Spanish a plus!
Work Schedule: Full time, Monday - Friday, 35 hours a week, some evening hours
Compensation: $125,000 - $135,000, commensurate with experience and includes a generous benefits and PTO packages
Loan Repayment Assistance - The Door is a member of the National Health Service Corps. NHSC.hrsa.gove. Licensed primary care clinicians in eligible disciplines can receive loan repayment assistance through the NHSC Loan Repayment Program (NHSC LRP). In exchange for loan repayment, you must serve at least two years of service at a NHSC approved site in a Health Professional Shortage Area (HPSA).
