Datascan is a Private Equity owned company that provides mobile computers, software applications, communications equipment and related printed materials to its retailer clients as part of a Solution-as-a Service Self Scan inventory model. 

Recently celebrating its 50 year anniversary Datascan’s client base is diverse in both retail segmentation and international location, and the company has extended operations into Europe and Asia with offices in the UK and China. 

 

Job Description 

This customer-facing role located in Carrollton, Tx is critical in ensuring we provide solutions to clients that work well in the field and are specified clearly with IT Engineering. The Business Analyst  partners with Sales to onboard new clients and with Customer Success Managers when changes or customizations are requested for existing clients. This role acts as the key liaison between the business facing roles in Sales/Customer Success teams and our internal IT Engineering groups. This Business Analyst is required to have the most in-depth knowledge of both a client’s technical configuration, how it works with their physical inventory processes and how the solution will be used in the field. The position is pivotal in ensuring Datascan’s clients receive both equipment and software that has been correctly specified, configured and delivered to enable them to perform inventory counts efficiently.  

  

Key Responsibilities 

  • Lead specification gathering sessions; Document and fully understand client requests; Submit detailed specifications to IT Engineering for development 

  • Determine risk, impact and best practice for custom solutions; Provide process/program improvement recommendations 

  • Communicate effectively with clients, Sales, and Customer Success on recommended best practice solutions 

  • Create internal and client facing documentation to define solution; Ensure documentation provided to the client is accurate and complete 

  • Communicate directly with client regarding software requirements and specifications, and pending actionables for Proof of Concepts 

  • Liaise between client, Sales, Customer Success and IT Engineering to ensure questions are answered and expectations are clear  

  • Create lifecycle test cases and test procedures to ensure that test plans adequately test all requirements; Perform technical testing and UAT; Ensure programs are designed and working fully as specified by clients 

  • Evaluate and troubleshoot basic product issues with clients, Sales and Customer Success 

  • Participate in discussions and make recommendations as to internal process improvements  

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree relevant to the position 

  • 3+ years experience in Business Analyst role 

  • Experience working with SaaS 

  • Competency in Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, and Outlook 

  • Knowledge of retail store inventory processes, a plus 

  • Experience with Jira and SaleForce, a plus 

  • Some travel required

  • Excellent at taking notes and keenly assessing important details and requirements from both internal and external meetings
