Summary: Manage company’s transportation operations in ensuring service meets or exceeds clients’ (FedEx Ground) expectations. Maintain fleet to keep deliveries on schedule and within its established budget.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Promote sustainable behavior change focused on safe practices
- Manage the day to day company operations for one designated terminal when Sr. Manager is not scheduled
- Proficient in Ground Cloud and payroll software systems; familiar with DRO
- Register and license all vehicles and keep inspections up to date
- Maintain records to prove company compliance with all state and federal regulations
- Manage fuel program and fuel cards
- Set-up and maintain preventative maintenance schedules
- Ensure vehicles meet or exceed contract guidelines
- Address and maintain pre- and post-trip logs
- Submit monthly maintenance logs
- Conduct minor vehicle repairs
- Support any downed vehicles; fix/repair, or wait for tow trucks
- Train other managers to serve as backup
- Interview driver candidates
- Serve as point of contact for all vehicle issues/questions
- Serve as replacement/overflow driver when needed
- Serve as a backup to other managers when necessary
- Communicate with supervisor all significant issues, recommendations, and decisions
- Comply with government rules and regulations related to transportation, labor issues, safety requirements, and environment issues
Supervisory Responsibilities:Â This position has no supervisory responsibilities
Qualifications and Education Requirements: Minimum of 6 months FedEx Ground driving experience; able to multi-task; time management skills; goal oriented; adaptable to change; excellent communication skills; high ethical standards; good interpersonal skills, ability to make decisions; excellent organization skills
Preferred Skills: Leadership/management experience and mechanically inclined
Physical Requirements:Â Able to push, pull, and/or lift 150 pounds; stoop, reach, stand, walk, grasp, feel, talk, hear, and see Â
Environmental Hazards: Exposure to loud noises and fumes/vapors/odors
