Role Summary:

The Sr. Business Banking Relationship Manager is a subject matter expert in growing an extensive portfolio of business banking relationships to include substantial deposit and loan growth of the commercial portfolio, and sales of additional business banking products. This includes proactive business development efforts related to new business relationships and cross-sale of all other commercial banking products. This Sr. position will be a critical resource to the commercial team leaders in each region who will be skilled in building out business banking programs that can be duplicated in each market, and sell commercial loans over $50k to businesses with sales up to $10MM, and real estate loans up to $10MM. Sales and support responsibilities include the development and referral of new treasury management relationships, enhancing existing business relationships by involving branch team members, developing new business deposit relationships, cross selling retail products and services, and providing excellent member service.

What You Will Be Doing:

  1. Responsible for building and growing a portfolio of business members from the ground up and developing a scalable program that can be replicated in other markets. This role requires a self- starter with strong motivation and the ability to independently drive business growth from zero
  2. Perform assigned duties in accordance with the CU’s Vision and Core Values; and provide the members with timely, responsive, and exceptional service in accordance with the credit union’s customer service standards
  3. Meet assigned sales goals and objectives. Participate in business development activities that promote the increase of business loans and deposits for the CU, with a heavy emphasis on deposit generation
  4. Create and follow a calling plan with the goal of maintaining existing customer relationships; develop and expand new member relationships within the small-to-medium-sized member base
  5. Take time to understand applicant’s business/management.
  6. Provide applicant bank products and services that enhance business success.
  7. Accept credit applications, interview loan applicants, review and analyze credit reports and financial information
  8. Prepare detailed, complete, presentations for new credit applications and other commercial banking services with ability to properly review prospects’ creditworthiness, needs and recommend all relevant products to the respective partners within the department
  9. Prepare letters of interest for loans, deposits, and treasury management services
  10. Must understand and perform Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) functions as applicable to job responsibilities.
  11. Evaluate existing and projected company cash flow
  12. Respond to inquiries regarding business and consumer lending and other credit union products.
  13. Oversee loan documentation and processing including review and negotiation
  14. Properly maintain file memos updating the status of the client relationship
  15. Always present a professional demeanor and image to internal and external members. This position will have the ability to present informative proposals that add value to business members. This includes keeping abreast of national and local economic news
  16. Provide recommendations for process improvement within the commercial banking department
  17. Respond to company representatives’ inquiries in a timely, friendly, and accurate manner
  18. Attend credit union training sessions, conferences and seminars as approved by supervisor. Maintain awareness of policies and regulations related to duties and responsibilities
  19. Maintain and protect all sensitive data utilizing the highest standard of confidentiality and professionalism.

About You:

  1. Thorough knowledge of credit services and other credit union services
  2. Thorough knowledge of business cash flow and lending policies/procedures
  3. Proficient computer skills with collaboration and productivity tools including Windows-based operating systems and office suites (Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint); spreadsheet applications to organize data used for advanced data analysis; internet; email; and bank software.
  4. Effective oral and written communication skills
  5. Ability to understand small business relationships, hold effective conversations with owners, and provide options that will meet their needs
  6. Ability to achieve a high sales level in business development and cross sales
  7. Ability to organize, prioritize and respond simultaneously to multiple tasks and requests
  8. Ability to work well in and contribute to a cohesive team environment
  9. Ability to perform job duties with limited daily supervision, exercising a high level of discretion and sound judgment
  10. Display values such as mutual respect, honesty, trust and dignity, and act in the best interest of the credit union. Always display solid ethics and integrity

Qualifications

What You Will Need:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or general business preferred, or five (5) years of related job experience accepted in lieu of education
  2. Minimum of seven (7) years of experience in a bank or credit union environment
  3. Treasury Management training preferred but not required
  4. Ability to interpret financial statements and credit analysis
  5. Proficiency with standard office equipment and business software
  6. General understanding of credit union and/or banking services and products
  7. Some travel is required to develop markets, attend credit union training and fulfill other duties

Salary Range:

$86,586.54 - $129,879.81
