Role Summary:

The Mortgage Processing Manager/Team Leader is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the home loan processing team, ensuring the efficient, accurate, and compliant handling of mortgage loan files from application to underwriting. This role involves managing team performance, implementing streamlined workflows, and fostering a collaborative and customer-focused environment. The Mortgage Processing Manager plays a pivotal role in aligning team operations with organizational goals and ensuring borrower satisfaction.

 

What You Will Be Doing:

  1. Supervise, mentor, and develop the home loan processing team, fostering a positive and high-performing work culture.
  2. Establish clear goals and expectations for individual and team performance.
  3. Conduct regular performance evaluations, providing constructive feedback and identifying areas for growth.
  4. Monitor daily workflow to ensure all files are processed efficiently and meet regulatory and organizational timelines.
  5. Assign files equitably across team based on workload and complexity.
  6. Implement standardized processes and checklists to eliminate redundancies and improve accuracy.
  7. Collaborate with the credit union’s underwriting, closing, and sales teams to identify bottlenecks and streamline workflows.
  8. Analyze team performance metrics to identify opportunities for increased efficiency and reduced turnaround times.
  9. Stay informed on industry trends and regulatory changes, incorporating them into team training and processes.
  10. Ensure all loan files comply with federal, state, and organizational regulations, including TRID, HMDA, and secondary market requirements.
  11. Conduct periodic audits of processed files to maintain quality standards and address discrepancies proactively.
  12. Act as the primary liaison between the home loan processing team and other departments, facilitating effective communication and problem resolution.
  13. Maintain regular communication with Loan Officers to address borrower needs and ensure smooth file progression.
  14. Provide consistent updates to senior leadership on team performance, challenges, and operational improvements.

 

About You:

  3. Comprehensive knowledge of mortgage products, processing workflows, and regulatory requirements.
  4. Proficiency in loan origination systems (LOS), automated underwriting systems (AUS), and document management tools.

Qualifications

What You Will Need:

  1. High school diploma or equivalent required; advanced training or certifications in mortgage lending preferred.
  2. Minimum of three (3) years of experience in mortgage processing or related roles.
  3. Proven leadership experience, with at least one (1) year in a supervisory or management capacity.
  4. Familiarity with FHA, VA, USDA, and conventional loan processing.
  5. Proficiency with LOS software, electronic file systems, and standard Microsoft Office Suite.
  6. Some travel may be required for training or business objectives.
  7. A valid Driver’s License is required.
