*We're seeking candidates within the Greater Seattle area to work a hybrid work from home schedule. This hybrid work schedule will be based on business need and travel will be required throughout the Greater Seattle area. Additionally, this position requires 5-7 years of related experience and candidates with current dealer relationships are strongly preferred*

Role Summary:

Under the general supervision of the Consumer Underwriting Assistant Manager/Team Leader of Consumer Underwriting, the Dealer Business Development Loan Officer makes quality decisions on consumer loan requests (direct/indirect) in accordance with Gesa’s underwriting standards or offers alternative solutions that best suit the applicant’s financial needs. Handles dealership outreach, develops strategies to meet lending goals, portfolio management duties, and will underwrite consumer loans. Acts as a mentor while providing coaching of other underwriters, answering questions and handling escalations.

 

What You Will Be Doing:

  1. Apply solid lending principles according to the needs of each applicant and their risk profile; construct and approve loan offers in accordance with delegated approval authority and loan policy independently.
  2. Evaluate and mitigate risk while maintaining profitability associated with extending credit requests.
  3. Apply underwriting guidelines in making and defending loan decisions independently.
  4. Identify and recommend additional lending opportunities to increase relationships with business partners.
  5. Primary function of this position is working in the field selling the Credit Unions program to secure new business partners.
  6. Achieve and surpass established targets and key metrics for production, efficiency, delinquency management, and regional growth.
  7. Ensure optimal dealer performance through consistent and strategic visit rotations.
  8. Responsible for dealership onboarding recommendations through market analysis reports.
  9. Accountable to the assigned region: maintain responsibility for and report on effective business development calls.
  10. May be responsible for communication of relationship dissolution from the indirect program for non-preforming dealerships.
  11. Provide accurate pricing and terms to dealerships in a courteous and professional manner.
  12. Ensure compliance with legal requirements, lending regulations and internal policies and procedures.
  13. Foster and sustain positive relationships with colleagues and business partners.
  14. Ensure the strict confidentiality of all information obtained, whether directly or indirectly.
  15. Adhere to all local, state, and federal laws/regulatory requirements as related to functional areas including Truth in Lending, Reg B, Reg Z, and Bank Secrecy Act.
  16. Stay informed of applicable laws, rules, regulations, and policies and procedures relevant to position duties and responsibilities.
  17. Generate new and innovative ways to streamline processes.
  18. Maintain high availability to respond to our dealer partners needs via cell phone during reasonable “off-business” hours.
  19. Serve on project teams for expertise as a Subject Matter Expert (SME).
  20. Perform other duties as assigned.
  21. Attend credit union training sessions, conferences, or seminars as approved by supervisor. 
  22. Display mutual respect, trust, and dignity, acting in the best interest of the credit union.  Lead by example by always displaying solid ethics and integrity.
  23. Ensure that all issues are handled in a fair, legal, and consistent manner.
  24. Call on assigned dealers to development ongoing relationships.

  7. Ability to participate in dealer functions and business development as needed.
  8. Ability to independently analyze, research and resolve medium to high complexity problems.
  9. This position has advanced to expert, wide-ranging job knowledge.

Qualifications

What You Will Need:

  1. High School diploma required.  Two-year degree or equivalent of specialized courses or trainings preferred. 
  2. Five (5) to seven (7) years of similar or related experience; consumer lending and indirect lending experience preferred.
  3. Travel and dealer outreach will make up over 95% of time and responsibilities.
  4. Maintain availability to coordinate business luncheons and or dinner functions with business partners. This may require scheduled events to be conducted during “off-business” hours to accommodate the dealer partner’s schedules.
  5. Flexibility to work “off-business” hours, including weekends (Sundays included) and holidays.
  6. Ability to work with and negotiate with members and team members to achieve the desired credit quality goal of the Credit Union.
  7. Proficiency with standard office equipment, lending software, spreadsheets, Outlook, and Word processing.
  8. Extensive knowledge of applicable underwriting guidelines.  Extensive knowledge of loan requirements for all types of indirect lending, consumer installment, and consumer open-end credit.
  9. Call on assigned dealers to development ongoing relationships.
  10. Familiarity with CUDL and Dealer Track program desired.
  11. A valid Driver’s License is required.

Salary Range:

$33.02-$49.53
