Role Summary:
The Business Banking Relationship Manager will be responsible for growing a portfolio of business banking relationships to include deposit and loan growth of their commercial portfolio, and sales of additional business banking products. This includes business development efforts related to new business relationships and cross-sale of cash management products. This position will be a resource to the commercial team leaders in each region and originate commercial loans over $50k to businesses with sales up to $5MM, and real estate loans up to $1MM. Sales and support include the development and referral of new treasury management relationships, enhancing existing business relationships by involving branch team members, developing new business deposit relationships, cross selling retail products and services, and providing excellent member service. This position is a development path to becoming a Commercial Loan Officer.
What You Will Be Doing:
- Perform assigned duties in accordance with Gesa Credit Unions Vision and Core Values; and provide the members with timely, responsive, and exceptional service in accordance with the credit union’s customer service standards.
- Create and follow a calling plan with the goal of maintaining existing customer relationships; develop and expand new customer relationships within the small-to-medium-sized member base.
- Take time to understand applicant’s business/management.
- Provide applicant bank products and services that enhance business success.
- Accept credit applications, interview loan applicants.
- Review applications and credit histories.
- Review and analyze credit reports and financial information.
- Spread and analyze personal and business financial information as well as entity ownership structures to understand creditworthiness of proposed loan. Recommend loan structures and terms to the appropriate approval authority.
- Prepare detailed, complete, loan approval presentations for new credit applications, extensions, modifications, and renewal requests, with ability to complete 100% of the document including financial spreadsheets, cash flow analysis, global cash flow, and RMA or other industry analysis.
- Underwrite renewals, modifications and extensions of existing credits.
- Ensure that all credit files include proper documentation including current financial statements, agency reports, etc. Prepare letter requests for update financial statements and tax returns from borrowers/guarantors and maintain tickler system.
- Prepare letters of interest and loan commitment letters.
- Ownership of portfolio monitoring activities including maturities, construction draws, annual loan reviews and problem loan reports.
- Accurately process daily commercial credit transactions including, but not limited to: (a) answering incoming phone calls, (b) performing the initial credit analysis to determine if member’s credit requests satisfy policies and procedure guidelines, and (c) preparing and processing all documentation for those credit transactions.
- Evaluate existing and projected company cash flow.
- Determine value of collateral, through review of appraisal, valuations, business financials, etc.
- Respond to inquiries regarding business and consumer lending and other credit union products.
- Perform credit checks and site inspections as required under credit union and/or SBA guidelines.
- Collect past due accounts and/or support SBA Lending Manager/Portfolio Manager in the collection of accounts.
- Oversee loan documentation and processing including review and negotiation.
- Properly maintain credit files including file memos updating the status of the client relationship.
- Maintain knowledge of and compliance with banking / credit union regulations.
- Be knowledgeable of and promote all credit union products and services with active referrals to credit union partners.
- Provide exceptional, timely, and responsive customer service to both internal members/teams as well as external partnerships and members.
- Understanding of all internal credit union policies.
- Ability to utilize technology to communicate effectively.
- Always present a professional demeanor and image to internal and external members. They will have the ability to present informative proposals that add value to business members. This includes keeping abreast of national and local economic news.
- Provide recommendations and process improvement.
- Respond to company representatives’ inquiries in a timely, friendly, and accurate manner.
- Perform job duties with limited daily supervision, exercising a high level of discretion and sound judgment.
- Maintain knowledge of laws, rules, regulations, policies, and procedures which impact assigned responsibilities.
