Role Summary:

Reporting to the Collateral Protection Insurance & Recovery Manager/Team Leader, the Collection Support Specialist is responsible for repossessions up to and including coordinating and liquidating all repossessions, sold vehicles, charge offs, lender insurance claims, skip claims, and other tasks assigned by leadership.

 

What You Will Be Doing:

  1. Repossessions and Sold Units: Responsible for processing all paperwork associated with any repossessions. This process commences after the 10-day redemption period has expired, notate updates in a timely manner, flag accounts, pull values, order title and prepare title work for sale, pay repossession expense and assisting with the process of billing. Move repossessions to auction or dealer lot upon approval from the Collection Support and CPI Manager or AVP and Manager of Collections. When a repossessed vehicle is sold, apply sale proceeds and send notice of Sale of Security Letter. Responsible for the upkeep, preparing and distribution of monthly reports as requested by management, to include, but not limited to the remarketing report.
  2. Process all cancellations of warranties, GAP insurance and other dealer related backend products.  If the repossession takes place within 90 days, notify Collection Support and CPI Manager, who will request dealer reserve charge back with Indirect Management.
  3. Charge Off and Recoveries: Assisting the Recovery Specialist with charge offs and completing all related transactions and notation on every individual account working directly with Collections Management. Under the direction of AVP and Manager of Collections, prepare month end reports for Executives, staff and Board.
  4. Insurance Claims: Under the direction of the Collection Support and CPI Manager, responsible for assisting with processing all necessary paperwork associated with Skip Claims, Premium Deficiency Claims, Repo Damage Claims and Repo Expense Claims, also LendPro claims filing and processing.
  5. Research account issues as necessary and demonstrate effective problem-solving skills.
  6. Must understand and perform Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) functions as applicable to job responsibilities.
  7. Attend credit union training sessions, conferences, or seminars as approved by supervisor.
  8. Maintain awareness and adhere to all policies and regulations established by the credit union.
  9. Processes mail payments and ECM exception payments.
  10. Prepares files to be assigned to 3rd party collection agencies/attorney and monitors accounts.
  11. Maintains a high level of confidentiality within the accounts control function and administrative offices relative to any information received directly or indirectly at all times.
  12. Maintains effective oral and written communication with all credit union members, vendors, and staff to ensure coordination and exchange of information for accomplishing credit union goals and objectives.
  13. Works independently and as a team member while making recommendations and using sound judgment.
  14. Attends work-related courses and seminars and pursues a program of self-development.
  15. Contributes to effective department and credit union operations by performing other related duties as assigned. Reviews and improves work methods and standard to increase efficiency.
  16. Inform management of any documentation issues including missing documentation, and/or need for follow up.

Qualifications

What You Will Need:

  1. Basic knowledge of Collections practices and the law as it applies to the collection of delinquent accounts and bankruptcies.
  2. General office skills including typing, filing, and professional telephone skills.
  3. PC skills including the following software applications: word processing (Word) and spreadsheets (Excel).
  4. Ability to prioritize assignments and handle multiple tasks at one time.
  5. Ability to complete assignments with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  6. Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  7. Ability to work independently with minimum supervision and be a team player.
  8. Ability to maintain a positive and professional image through effective verbal and written communication, and dress.
  9. Ability to assist members, vendors, and staff effectively.
  10. Ability to handle oneself in stressful situations.

Salary Range:

$19.63-$29.45
