Role Summary:

The AVP of Commercial Credit Administration and Lending Operations will provide oversight and direction of all credit submissions originated by the Commercial Services Support department.  This role will collaborate with lending units to maintain credit underwriting standards and recommend changes when needed.  The team member will also be responsible for the management and direction of the Commercial Loan Servicing team and Commercial Portfolio team.  The AVP Commercial Credit Administration and Lending Operations will be responsible for all Commercial and SBA Lending related policies, underwriting guidelines, and ensure the credit union remains in compliance with all state and federal laws.  This position will provide oversight of all commercial documentation, collateral lien perfection, and funding of all Commercial and SBA loans.  

 

What You Will Be Doing:

  1. In collaboration with our Commercial and SBA Lending teams, maintain credit underwriting standards and recommend changes when needed that align with the commercial credit culture and concentration limits. 
  2. Provide approval authority and recommendations on all Commercial and SBA loan submissions.
  3. Review Commercial and SBA loan submissions and assist with Management Loan Committee (MCL) agenda. 
  4. Directly manage “problem” credits and special assets for timely and effective resolution.
  5. In collaboration with the loan production team, oversee the risk grading of all commercial credits.
  6. Work collaboratively and effectively with regulatory examiners, third party loan reviewers and auditors, Internal Audit, and Internal Quality Assurance and Control teams. 
  7. Assess the accuracy and effectiveness of commercial loan underwriting and provide recommendations and improvements.
  8. In collaboration with Commercial and SBA Lending teams, proactively manage the Commercial Real Estate valuation program.
  9. Oversee and manage the credit union’s Commercial and SBA loan portfolios to mitigate undesirable credit risk.
  10. Provide guidance and oversight of commercial loan documents to ensure the organization has proper legal standing with borrowers.
  11. Work effectively and collaboratively with production staff, providing training and insight into credit decisions and recommendations.
  12. Evaluate existing and projected company cash flow.
  13. Participate in organizational leadership meetings.  Provide strategic direction to Commercial Loan Operations and Administration.
  14. Attend the Asset Liability Committee (ALCO) and MLC meetings.  Eventually, become a voting member of the MLC.
  15. Determine value of collateral, through review of appraisals, valuations, business financials, etc.
  16. Make site visit calls with lenders and members of the MLC to gain a hands-on perspective of the business operations or project plans. 
  17. Collaborate and assist, when necessary, in the collection of past due commercial and SBA loans. 
  18. Provide oversight and guidance to the loan documentation and processing teams.
  19. Properly maintain credit files including file memos updating the status of the client relationship.
  20. Maintain knowledge of and compliance with banking/credit union regulations.
  21. Provide exceptional, timely, and responsive customer service to both internal team members/teams as well as external partnerships and members.
  22. Understanding of all internal credit union policies.
  23. Keep abreast of national and local economic news. 
  24. Provide recommendations and process improvement.
  25. Respond to company representatives’ inquiries in a timely, friendly, and accurate manner.
  26. Perform job duties with limited daily supervision, exercising a high level of discretion and sound judgment.
  27. Maintain knowledge of laws, rules, regulations, policies, and procedures which impact assigned responsibilities.
  28. Display leadership values such as mutual respect, honesty, trust and dignity, and act in the best interest of the credit union. Always display solid ethics and integrity.
  29. Maintain and protect all sensitive data utilizing the highest standard of confidentiality and professionalism.

 

About You:

  1. Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in maintaining credit records and documentation.
  2. Strong analytical skills with the ability to assess credit risk and make data-driven decisions.
  3. Thorough working knowledge of the Financial Industry including the following:  business cash flow, lending policies and procedures, financial statements, and credit analysis.
  4. Strong knowledge of troubleshooting skills, techniques, and tools.
  5. Ability to consistently present a professional demeanor and image to internal and external members.
  6. Excellent customer service attributes.
  7. Ability to contribute to process improvement efforts.

Qualifications

What You Will Need:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or a related field.
  2. Minimum of five (5) years commercial lending credit administrative experience.
  3. A minimum of 10 years’ experience in the Financial Industry; specifically, loan production and customer interaction roles. 
  4. Proficient with standard office equipment, computer hardware and software, and Microsoft programs.
  5. Ability to organize, prioritize and respond simultaneously to multiple tasks and requests.
  6. Ability to effectively communicate ideas and information, both orally and in writing. 
  7. Ability to analyze and report information and recommend achievable process improvements.
  8. Ability to promote and participate in a cohesive team environment.

Salary Range:

 $157,641.17- $236,461.76
