Earlham College is seeking an Equestrian Program Barn Manager to join our team!
Summary:
We are seeking a Barn Manager for Earlham College’s Equestrian Program. The role includes the ability to have a flexible schedule and be a strong collaborator with many people from many walks of life and diverse backgrounds. This person will need to have a strong level of knowledge regarding horses as you will be guiding student workers through their roles and teaching the Equestrian classes that are offered to the students at Earlham College.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities
- Scheduling Barn shifts for student Barn staff and volunteers.
- Overseeing boarding contracts and riding lesson contracts.
- Scheduling riding lessons and teaching riding lessons.
- Assessing levels of students working in the Barn in order to properly assign tasks, including teaching lessons.
- Being an instructor for the academic classes offered for students. This involves working Barn shifts with students to teach them about horse care.
- Overseeing the care of the Barn including responsibilities for the indoor arena, tack rooms, supply rooms, pastures, and reporting damages to the property.
- Working with students on tracking feed inventory and supplies.
- Expediting boarding of new horses and following protocols in place.
- Managing the care of the horses and working with the Barn staff and veterinarian services when needed.
- Respond to student volunteer questions about communications about horse care via approved communications ( Email, Slack)
- Complete weekly check-ins with Program Advisor to ensure program operation and budget is effectively managed.
