Earlham College is seeking an Associate Director of Student Engagement to join our team!

 

 

Summary: 

 

The Associate Director of Student Engagement person serves under the general supervision of the Director of Student Engagement for Campus Activities and Events.  This role is primarily responsible for oversight of all campus activities and events. They will assist the College in implementing major student social programming initiatives and advise all student groups working on planning campus events. This position is a full-time, 12-month, 40 hours-per-week administrative faculty appointment. 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Essential Functions:

 

Contribute to the overall vision and leadership of the Office of Student Engagement

  • Assist the Director with reviewing practices, policies, and initiatives associated with the Department to ensure that they promote a culture of diversity and inclusion and meet the needs of diverse student populations
  • Participate in the annual Student Affairs Divisional and Office of Student Engagement strategic planning and annual reporting efforts.

 

Advise student programming groups

  • Serve as the staff liaison for 40+ student organizations. Implement annual processes, including roster updates to the student engagement platform system, provisional and complete charter applications, funding requests, etc.
  • Create, implement, and assess training for student organizations to include student organization policies, procedures, and utilization of the student engagement platform system.
  • Provide budget oversight for all student organization funding.

Coordinate signature, annual Earlham College events

  • Coordinate/plan, implement and evaluate formal campus-wide events, including Orientation Weekend Involvement Fair, Welcome Week, Homecoming/Family Weekend, Concerts, and Springfest.
  • Successfully collaborate with academic affairs to coordinate and implement EPIC Expo, Commencement, etc.

 

Provide oversight for social event planning and policy efforts

  • Serve as a trained administrator of 25Live to assist campus departments and student groups connected to this role in planning campus-wide events.
  • Work with the Registrar's Office to cohesively manage space utilization.
  • Provide day-to-day support for 25 Live, including troubleshooting software issues, providing on-site assistance for users, updating location information, building event and cabinet frameworks, setting cabinet constraints, cabinet security, and coordinating scheduling data with 25 Live and System Administrators. 
  • Train new 25 Live users in making reservation requests.  Create user-friendly tools (documentation, videos, etc.) to assist and support training for all users.
  • Work with Academic Affairs and Registrar's Office in scheduling semester course locations

 

Other Duties

  • Required to attend events providing on-site support for the Director, including working outside regular work hours, 8:00 am- 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday.
  • Assist the Director with the day-to-day operation of the Runyan Student Center; lead the overall management and development of the Student Center student building staff and information desk attendants; including recruitment, training, evaluation, and supervision, and consistently ensuring policies and procedures are adhered to
  • Assist the Director with other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Student Affairs or related field preferred; Bachelor’s Degree plus a commensurate level of experience and training will be considered;
  • 2+ years of experience working in Student Activities or a related Student Life area preferred.
  • Strong computer skills, including the ability to use Microsoft Office Suite or other complex software systems
