Earlham College is seeking a Marketing Writer/Editor to join our team!
Summary:
The Marketing Writer/Editor will develop, write and edit short- and long-form content for a variety of Earlham College publications and digital outreach efforts. These include but are not limited to feature stories for the Earlhamite magazine, marketing copy for brochures, emails, posters, social media posts and advertisements, and website content. We’re looking for a natural storyteller with a knack for copywriting, a creative thinker and a skilled proofreader. The ideal candidate will demonstrate relentless attention to detail, a willingness to learn Earlham’s For Good brand voice and tone, and the ability to write in both journalistic and persuasive styles.
The Writer/Editor will proofread copy written by our central marketing and communications team and campus partners for readability, grammar and adherence to brand standards and Earlham’s style guidelines.
The Writer/Editor is a member of the central Marketing and Communications team at Earlham, working in partnership with colleagues in various departments to craft content that appeals to prospective students and their families, alumni, donors and members of the campus community. Strong writing skills are a must; the ideal candidate for this role also will have experience with content marketing, scripting for video or visual storytelling and familiarity with the interplay of writing and design. The ability to balance multiple competing priorities is essential.
The Marketing Writer/Editor reports to the Associate Director for Marketing and Communications and works closely with other members of the MarCom team to enhance our written work. The marketing and communications staff plays an essential role in helping Earlham achieve its enrollment and fundraising goals. As a result, we take our work seriously and understand its strategic importance. That said, we don’t take ourselves too seriously — yes, we have a shared sense of purpose, but we also have a great sense of humor.
This is an in-person role, but Marketing and Communications staffers can work from home one day a week. Earlham’s culture is guided by our Principles and Practices, and in our collective work, we strive to create an environment of community and mutual respect.
An Earlham education prepares students to become catalysts for good in a changing world. In turn, the marketing team is committed to sharing that message — For Good. If you are interested in creative work and driven by the desire to create positive change, we’d love to hear from you.
