Description

Position Summary

The Production Supervisor directs and coordinates, through subordinate supervisory personnel, activities concerned with production of company product(s), utilizing knowledge of product technology, production methods and procedures, and capabilities of machines and equipment.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

 

  • Consults with management personnel to establish production and quality control standards, develop budget and cost controls, and to obtain data regarding types, quantities, specifications, and delivery dates of products ordered.
  • Plans and directs production activities and establishes production priorities for products in keeping with effective operations and cost factors.
  • Coordinates production activities with procurement, maintenance, and quality control activities to obtain optimum production and utilization of human resources, machines, and equipment.
  • Reviews and analyzes production, quality control, maintenance and operations reports to determine causes of nonconformity with product specifications, and operating or production problems.
  • Develops and implements operating methods and procedures designed to eliminate operating problems and improve product quality.
  • Revises production schedules and priorities as result of equipment failure or operating problems.
  • Consults with engineering personnel relative to modifications of machines and equipment in order to improve production and quality of products.
  • Compiles, stores and retrieves production data, using computer. 
  • Maintaining safe work environment by implementing 5S processes.
  • Monitor and audit the production floor.

Qualifications

Required Competencies, Skills, and Experience:

•    Previous experience working in a manufacturing environment, plastic injection molding experience a plus.
•    Shows mechanical aptitude and show an ability to learn and practice correct molding and setup methods.
•    Excellent organizational skills
•    Must be able to read machine dial gauges, blueprints and precision measuring instruments used in the inspection of parts.
•    Ability to monitor machine sounds to identify and diagnose changes to take appropriate action.  

Education and Job Experience Requirements:
•    High School Diploma or G.E.D. preferred.
•    Must have a minimum of 5 years of supervisory experience. 
 

Work Environment and Physical Demands 
•    High noise levels from operating machines
•    Physical hazards from moving equipment and machine parts
•    Breathing fumes, dust, and mist
•    Skin exposure to oils and cutting fluid.
•    Stand, walk, push, pull, reach overhead and bend to the floor.
•    Exert 50 to 100 pounds of force occasionally.
•    Exert 25 to 50 pounds of force frequently. 
•    Exert up to 10 to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
