Job Summary
The Older Female Program Resident Advisor (RA) provides supportive services to 20 single young women identified as ages 21-24 at a shelter site in the Bronx funded by the Department of Youth and Community Development. Reporting to the shelter site's program coordinator, the RA is an energetic, creative, and diligent team member, including case managers and specialty support staff. RAs will be expected to participate in training and implementation activities for evidence-based and other proven models that will be utilized.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
(Responsibilities to include but not limited to the following)
Youth Engagement and Program Support
- Directly engages, supervises, and supports youth residing at the Older Females shelter site, providing support, motivation, and encouragement when needed.
- Ensures that the site, including youths' rooms, is clean and kept in a good and safe condition.
- Assists youth in achieving their shelter goals: assesses and addresses any immediate trauma experienced by the young female seeking shelter and assists clients in obtaining their goals.
- Welcomes the young female-identified to the site and orients them to site expectations, CHNY's mission and principles, and child protection policies and protocols.
- Assists young females identified with preparation for the day. Ensures the young female-identified are awake, out of bed, fed, and promptly on their way to work, school, or other activities.
- Provides support to Case Managers as needed, including distributing appointment slips, appointment follow-up, paperwork collection and filing, file maintenance, and file compliance.
- Maintains records in the Efforts to Outcomes (ETO) computer system and enters all required documentation timely.
- Escorts young female-identified to other agencies and services when necessary (e.g., hospitals, school visits) when feasible.
- Maintains healthy, supportive relationships with the young female-identified, mindful of boundaries and mutual respect.
- Leads and/or participates in recreational and holiday activities at the site and off-site trips.
- Complete incident reports by the end of the shift and submit them to appropriate parties.
- De-escalates crises; attends to emergencies following agency protocol.
- Ensures safety by utilizing security training throughout their shifts, including searching belongings and rooms.
- Works as a collaborative team member, ensuring that all young men have access to high-quality services and are living in a safe and compassionate community.
- Participates in regular case conferences. Ensures team members are fully apprised of important information.
- Actively participates in staff team meetings, individual supervision meetings, and meetings with the young men.
- Assists with audit preparation and dry and live audits of the program.
SALARY: $19.23/hr
