Job Summary

Under the supervision of the Director of Training and Evidence-Based Implementation and closely collaborating with the People and Culture Department, the Training Coordinator is responsible for identifying and coordinating training resources to meet agency goals. All programs and training resources are to be implemented in collaboration with staff providing direct care to youth facing homelessness, human trafficking, and other traumas. Thus, a passion for working with and on behalf of vulnerable youth is a priority.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Models the Mission, Vision, and five Principles of Covenant House.
  • Lead internal training trainer (including in-person training, virtual training, and assisting external trainers when needed).
  • Coordinates all training via Relias Learning Management System, including yearly training plans for all departments, regular maintenance, liaising with Relias Support, uploading internal and external training onto the platform, and creating exams for training.
  • Manages technology for the Training Department and troubleshoots technology issues with other departments and IT (e.g., accessing video playback and audio/microphone issues). Occasionally, records and video edits training.
  • Liaises with staff on all training-related issues and communicates with all Covenant House New York departments as needed, sharing essential training updates.
  • Assists with all new and existing evidence-based models at Covenant House New York.
  • Assists with invoicing, coding, and purchasing for the department using department PEX cards.
  • Coordinates training programs that provide core competencies and enhanced skills for all staff.
  • Obtains develops, and implements effective training materials utilizing various media for new and existing training.
  • Performs task analysis when appropriate to pinpoint specific knowledge and skills needed for on-the-job performance to create a training program or other organizational development intervention.
  • Manages agency-wide training calendar.
  • Coordinating New Hire Orientation with the People and Culture Department and other relevant departments.
  • Partners with other departments to design training interventions using internal or external resources.
  • Identifies and coordinates highly qualified external training resources.
  • Keeps current on training best practices and methodology.
  • Participates in the development and delivery of other programs/interventions. (i.e., leadership development and professional development) including curriculum/instructional design development, delivery, evaluation, project planning and logistics, etc.
  • Assists in implementing and delivering the Covenant House Program Model, including facilitating the Foundational Approaches training.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree Required.
  • 2-3 years of administrative support required.
  • Extensive, closely related/relevant experience and comfort working with “At-Promise Youth” in youth residential programs are strongly preferred.
  • Excellent collaborative, interpersonal, and communication skills; ability to work with a diverse range of people; initiative and agility to manage multiple, shifting priorities.
  • Exceptionally high organizational abilities, creativity, resourcefulness, and an ability to connect with people.
  • Must demonstrate a deep customer service ethic and orientation.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to leverage various types of technology and systems to maximize operations and drive toward meaningful results efficiently.
  • Flexibility in work schedule, with the occasional need to coordinate training in the evening or on weekends.
