Job Developer

WHO WE ARE & PURPOSE OF POSITION:

Under limited direction from the Manager of CovWorks-Shelter, the Job Developer establishes and maintains relationships with employers and community organizations to develop job opportunities and support continued employment for youth. Coordinates day-to-day activities such as soliciting employer interest and involvement in the employment of youth and posting opportunities and tracking placement data.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 (Responsibilities to include but not limited to the following)

  • Initiate and maintain personal contact with business and industry representatives to set up recruitment profiles and provide orientations; schedules and visits potential and existing employers to identify and develop positions for youth.
  • Establish and maintain temporary, full-time, part-time, and seasonal job banks.
  • Assist qualified students in identifying positions in their field of interest; assists in development of resumes, cover letters and applications; advises youth on employability skills.
  • Work with students to gain relevant skills; help youth explore alternative employment options.
  • Maintain currency with industry trends; update labor market information by researching online resources, attending meetings, maintaining contacts with community organizations, and networking with professional organizations that are involved in job placement/training activities.
  • Communicate with employers during youths’ employment and report result to appropriate staff and enter into ETO.
  • Work with program coordinators to collect and track job placement data; compiles data and prepares reports and correspondence regarding job development and placement efforts.
  • Work collaboratively with staff to coordinate and facilitate recruitment days, employer panels, and targeted job fairs.
  • Responsible for 10 placements a month.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • High School or GED

  • At least 2 years of relate experience

  • Local economic and labor market conditions and trends.

  • Effective techniques for contacting potential employers.

  • Job development and job placement techniques.

  • Must have up-to-date job bank.

  • Must possess complete knowledge of general computer, fax, copier, scanner, and telephone.

  • Must be knowledgeable of multiple software programs, including but not limited to Microsoft Word, Excel, and the internet.

  • Possess the ability to adjust to constantly changing workloads and is able to prioritize duties. The ideal candidate must be comfortable using online social media networks and online broadcasting (meeting) applications such as zoom, or Webex.

  • Bi-lingual [Spanish/English/French] a plus.

Salary range based on experience  $47, 500 -$52, 000.

Schedule 9:00 am  - 5:00 pm

 

Compensation

Covenant House New York offers a rich package of benefits including but not limited to full medical, vision, dental, life and short and long-term disability insurance and other fringe benefits. Eligibility for medical benefits begins on the date of hire. PTO includes 3 weeks of vacation in the first year, 10 holidays, 13 sick days, 5 personal days and birthday days off. Benefits include a 403b with employer contribution after 12 months.
