Friends University is seeking to fill the Head Athletic Trainer position in Wichita Kansas. The Head Athletic Trainer is responsible for the comprehensive management of the athletic training program, including the prevention, evaluation, treatment, and rehabilitation of injuries and illnesses sustained by student-athletes. This role requires effective leadership, excellent clinical skills, and strong organizational abilities to support the health and performance of athletic teams while ensuring compliance with university, state and federal policies and regulations.

  • Supervise and mentor a team of athletic trainers
  • Work with athletes and teams to assess and diagnose athletic injuries and conditions
  • Ensure compliance with university policies, NAIA regulations, and other governing bodies related to athletic training and healthcare
  • Manage the budget for the athletic training department, including equipment and supplies

Qualifications

Minimum of 5 years of experience in athletic training, with at least 2 years in a supervisor role or as a head trainer.

 

Bachelor’s degree with Certification by the National Athletic Trainers Association is required, Master’s degree in Athletic Training, Exercise Science or related field preferred.

 

Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills. Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage multiple priorities. In-depth understanding of injury prevention, rehabilitation, and athletic training practices.

 

Ability to lift and move equipment and supplies, and to work in various environmental conditions. Flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, depending on sprots schedules and events.
