Laundry Operator | Part Time

Summary/Objective
The laundry operator will operate and maintain the DECC’s laundry facilities. This includes washing, de-staining, sorting, sewing, and folding custodial supplies and employee uniforms. Maintaining and washing uniforms will be the primary day to day activity of the laundry operator.
Requirements and Competencies
- Experience operating laundry equipment.
- Proficient sewing by hand and with a sewing machine.
- Must be detail-oriented, organized, and maintain exceptional time management skills.
- Ability to adapt to changes, delays, or unexpected events.
- Ability to stand, walk, sit, and maneuver.
- Ability to move efficiently throughout a large facility.
Preferred Education and Experience
- Large facility laundry experience is preferred.
Essential Functions (Reasonable accommodations may be made for individuals with disabilities.)
- Operate facility washing machines, dryers, and steamers.
- Remove stains from laundry.
- Organize and successfully track uniform inventory for the DECC, report inventory to management routinely.
- Collect, sort, and launder for all the facility’s various departments.
- Perform minor repairs to expo skirts, drape, and uniforms, such as sewing.
- Inspect equipment and supplies to ensure a smooth operation, identify when repairs are needed, Inform management with any concerns.
- Assist the building services department with various tasks during events, as needed.
Schedule
This position is part-time with a schedule based on DECC event needs. This position will primarily have daytime shifts. Approximately 10-15 hours per week are available, with the possibility of more hours available during a busy event season.
Uniform
The DECC provides a branded shirt and a nametag, the employee must provide their own pants (clean with no holes or stains), and their own comfortable closed-toe shoes.

Work Environment
The Laundry Operator will work out of the facility’s laundry room. Temperatures within the room can fluctuate based on the seasons, from extremely hot and humid, to cold winter weather temperatures. There will be moderate noise from the machines throughout most of the day, volume will fluctuate from quiet to loud.
Physical Demands
This position will require standing, sitting, bending, maneuvering, squatting, and the ability to move and lift to 30 pounds. Intricate handwork while sewing is required.

The DECC uses USCIS Form I-9 to verify the identity and employment authorization of individuals hired for employment. On the form, an employee must attest to his or her employment authorization. The employee is required to present the DECC with acceptable documents evidencing identity and employment authorization at the time of hire. The DECC will examine the employment eligibility and identity document(s).
The list of acceptable documents can be provided by Human Resources.

This position is at will. This means if you are offered the position and accept, your employment with the DECC is for an indefinite period of time and it is subject to termination by you or the DECC, with or without cause, with or without notice, and at any time. Nothing in this job description or any other policy of the DECC shall be interpreted to be in conflict with or to eliminate or modify in any way, the at will employment status of this position.
The at will employment status of an employee of the DECC may be modified only in a written employment agreement with that employee which is signed by the Executive Director or the Chair of the DECC Board of Directors.
