Summary
Suite Server & Attendants are the catering operators of the AMSOIL Arena Suites during sport events and concerts! They are responsible for efficiently running food and beverage services during an event, from set up, serving, cleanup and providing guests with an exceptional experience.
Requirements & Competencies
- At least 2 years of customer service experience is required.
- Basic math skills and cash handling skills required.
- Ability to use a point-of-sale system.
- Ability to ensure a high level of customer service
- Ability to adapt to changes, delays, or unexpected events
- Ability to move quickly throughout the complex.
- Ability to stand and walk for hours at a time.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
Preferred Requirements
- At least one year of serving and/or bartending experience.

- Responsible for providing exceptional hospitality while serving food and beverage to all suite holders and single game renters during events hosted at the DECC in AMSOIL Arena.
- Perform exceptional and prompt customer service to all guests.
- Speak courteously to all customers to determine their needs and assist.
- As required, assist with all catering functions and perform additional serving and/or bartending roles.
- Review event sheets to ensure event areas are set up correctly.
- Serve hors d'oeuvres and/or set up, monitor and serve a buffet line, as required.
- place orders and process payments using the point of sale.
- Supply alcohol services in addition to food services for guests in the suites.
- Responsible for clearing, closing and cleaning the suites and service areas.
- Perform opening and closing duties as required.
- Easily adapt to changes, delays, or unexpected events.
- Create and maintain a professional and hospitable appearance and atmosphere.
- Follow all sanitation, health, and safety protocols
Schedule
This position is part-time with a schedule based on DECC event needs. The Suites are at their busiest schedule from October to May. This position is mostly afternoon and evening shifts on weekends and may include some weeknights and holidays. Hours per week will vary from 0-20. Availability for UMD Men’s Hockey games is essential.
Uniform
Uniform Shirt and a name tag are provided by the DECC. Employees are required to provide black dress pants (no leggings or jeans) and black shoes (plain black tennis shoes are acceptable). Long hair must be pulled back.

Work Environment
While performing the duties of this job, you will frequently be exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and moving mechanical parts. The employee is occasionally exposed to extreme cold (freezing winter weather) and extreme heat (humid and up to 90 degrees). The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate but can occasionally be extremely loud.
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, you are required to stand and to use your hands and arms to carry loaded food, drink and dish trays. You must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, bending, reaching, squatting and pushing carts. A Server must be able to navigate busy and crowded areas safely and quickly. There can be long stretches of standing in place.

Work Authorization/Security Clearance Requirements
The DECC uses USCIS Form I-9 to verify the identity and employment authorization of individuals hired for employment. On the form, an employee must attest to his or her employment authorization. The employee is required to present the DECC with acceptable documents evidencing identity and employment authorization at the time of hire. The DECC will examine the employment eligibility and identity document(s).
The list of acceptable documents can be provided by Human Resources.
At-Will Employment
This position is at will. This means if you are offered the position and accept, your employment with the DECC is for an indefinite period of time and it is subject to termination by you or the DECC, with or without cause, with or without notice, and at any time. Nothing in this job description or any other policy of the DECC shall be interpreted to be in conflict with or to eliminate or modify in any way, the at will employment status of this position.
The at will employment status of an employee of the DECC may be modified only in a written employment agreement with that employee which is signed by the Executive Director or the Chair of the DECC Board of Directors.
