Description

Hampden-Sydney College is accepting applications for an Assistant Director for Programming and Partnerships.  Reporting to the Director of the Ferguson Career Center, the Assistant Director for Programming and Partnerships is responsible for supporting the College mission by developing and managing a wide range of career exploration and professional development initiatives. The Assistant Director works collaboratively with the Career Center team, faculty, and external partners, including alumni and recruiters, to provide innovative programming that prepares students for success after college. This role also provides one-on-one assistance to students and alumni, helping them navigate internship, job, and graduate school searches.

Duties
Ideates, develops, and manages holistic career and professional development programs, engaging the College’s alumni and recruiters where feasible. Assists the Director in implementation a comprehensive program strategy that provides students and alumni access to timely career resources.

Leads the creation of an online self-service resource for career and professional preparation, ensuring it is relevant and accessible to students and alumni.

Creates and publishes marketing materials for student programs on social media on a weekly basis. Ensures programs are well-promoted and reach the intended audience.

Advises students and alumni on career-related decision-making, including the use of career assessments, exploration of experiential opportunities, and strategies for job and internship searches. Provides guidance on resume and cover letter writing, recruiting preparation, and graduate/professional school applications.

Builds and maintains relationships with faculty, staff, and student groups. Co-sponsors and, when appropriate, co-delivers initiatives and programs that enhance career and professional development opportunities.

Stays informed about trends and developments in the workforce, ensuring that programs remain aligned with the evolving needs of students and the professional world.

Represents the College in regional and national career associations, participating in relevant initiatives and maintaining professional connections.


Performs other related duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications

Education/Experience
Bachelor’s degree, with minimum of 3 years of previous relevant experience, is required. Master’s degree is preferred.
