OVERVIEW AND ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

 

The Business Intelligence Manager plays a pivotal role in championing data and analytics at Acumen, driving enterprise-wide initiatives that guide corporate strategy and operational efficiencies. This role is responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive analytics framework that transforms data into actionable insights, fostering a culture of data-driven decision making across all levels of the organization.

 

Strategic BI Leadership:

  • Develop and execute Acumen’s BI strategy, focusing on integrating BI practices into key business operations including financial, HR, and operational systems.
  • Lead the transition from legacy SSRS solutions to a comprehensive Power BI ecosystem, ensuring seamless migration and minimal disruption to business processes.
  • Establish and maintain robust data governance practices, initially focusing on strategic applications to enhance data accuracy and accessibility.

Data Management and Analytics:

  • Oversee the design, creation, and management of critical datasets that drive strategic reporting and analytics across the enterprise.
  • Develop and maintain scalable dashboards, reports, and visualizations that provide actionable insights and support strategic decision-making.
  • Conduct high-level analysis for board of directors presentations, demonstrating storytelling prowess to translate complex data sets into compelling business narratives.

Team Development and Process Improvement:

  • Hire, train, and manage an initial team of three report developers and recruit two additional specialists to enhance BI capabilities.
  • Implement and train the BI team in Agile methodologies (Scrum or Scrumban) to optimize project management and workflow processes.
  • Cultivate a culture of continuous improvement, innovation, and proactive problem-solving within the BI team.

Cross-Functional Collaboration and Influence:

  • Collaborate with senior executives and department heads to align BI strategies with organizational goals and data needs.
  • Influence company-wide analytics journeys by building strong relationships and advocating for the strategic use of data.

Compliance and Security:

  • Ensure adherence to data privacy standards and security policies, reinforcing Acumen’s commitment to secure and ethical data use.
  • Promote a vigilant cybersecurity posture among all BI team members, aligning with company-wide policies and guidelines.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in a STEM field (Computer Science, Information Systems, Statistics, Engineering, etc.); Master’s degree or MBA strongly preferred.
  • At least 5 years of experience in business intelligence, data analytics, or a related field, with a proven track record in managing BI projects and leading data-driven initiatives.
  • Minimum 5 years of leadership experience in a data-intensive role, demonstrating the ability to oversee BI teams and projects effectively.
  • Expert proficiency in Microsoft BI tools (Power BI, SSRS, MSFT Fabric, Purview) and familiarity with SQL.
  • Demonstrated experience with Agile project management methodologies
