POSITION SUMMARY:
The Assistant Cheer Coach will support the Head Coach in all aspects of coaching, including planning and conducting practices, preparing for games and competitions, and fostering a positive and safe environment. This role is vital in helping our student-athletes achieve their full potential both on and off the mat.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist the Head Coach in planning, organizing, and conducting practice sessions.
- Support the development and implementation of game and competition strategies.
- Provide instruction and guidance on cheer techniques, tumbling, stunts, and routines.
- Help ensure the safety and well-being of all team members during practices, games, and competitions.
- Foster a positive, inclusive, and supportive team culture.
- Assist in the recruitment and retention of talented student-athletes.
- Participate in team events, fundraisers, and community engagement activities.
- Monitor academic progress and support student-athletes in balancing their academic and athletic commitments.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to hear well enough to communicate effectively with co-workers, vendors, and athletes.
- Frequently convey detailed or important coaching instructions and ideas accurately, clearly, and quickly.
- Ability to lift, pull, and push up to 50 pounds of force regularly.
- The capability to demonstrate and instruct various cheerleading techniques, including stunting, motions, and dance.
- Maintain the physical fitness and stamina required to participate in and oversee rigorous practice sessions and performances.
- Capacity to lift, move, and support cheerleading equipment and team members during stunts and routines.
- Strong visual and auditory abilities to quickly and accurately assess performances and provide feedback.
- Willingness and ability to travel and endure long hours during games, practices, and events.
WORK SCHEDULE:
- The Assistant Coach is required to work according to athletic game schedules, meetings, and practices. This assistant coach schedule does not operate on a traditional work schedule.
TRAVEL:
- Travel is required for away games and competitions.
