Description

Summary/Objective:

 The Material Coordinator is responsible for monitoring and scheduling all cementitious material orders for company concrete           plants in and assigned geographic area while ensuring timely delivery of ordered products.

Essential Functions:

  1. Receive plant orders via, telephone, Microsoft Teams and email.  Accurately enter orders into dispatching system.
  2. Review and confirm information with Plant Operators and Area Production Managers (APM) to ensure sufficient quantities, material, delivery dates and times are accurate.
  3. Interact daily with Plant Operators and APM’s to ensure efficient and effective deliveries.
  4. Monitor daily KPI dashboards for order adjustments and volume changes.
  5. Troubleshoot scheduling conflicts, truck shortages and ordering mistakes to provide an appropriate resolution. Document all corrective actions and elevate to Manager and/or other appropriate managers (Logistics, Concrete Operations, Safety) when appropriate for resolution and follow-up.
  6. Promptly notify Safety, Operations Manager and/or other appropriate personnel of any accidents, material spills, or job site safety issues which may arise.
  7. Assign and dispatch material orders to the appropriate haulers.
  8. Monitor truck activity on dispatch platform to maintain timely schedules and delivery of orders.  Develop schedules for next assignments so that trucks are dispatched based on availability.          
  9. Monitor after hours emails and phones calls for order adjustments, cancelations or Hauler call outs.
  10. Coordinate tanker assignments with internal haulers and maintain maintenance schedules as needed for tanker repairs and maintenance.
  11. Other duties as assigned.

Non-Essential Functions:

  1. Maintain hauler relations with all brokers and drivers.
  2. Perform miscellaneous administrative functions as required.
  3. Assist Manager of Logistics/Supply Chain as needed.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS

Work Environment:

  • Work time will be indoors/office.
  • Noise level will be moderate.

Physical Demands:

  • Sit approximately 8 hours per day.

ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS

Experience:

  • Previous experience in a logistics or dispatch environment.

Special Skills:

  • Written communication, verbal communication, and basic mathematical skills.
  • Ability to use a computer including Microsoft Office, Dispatch system.
  • Data entry skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work in a high-stress, fast-paced environment.
  • Able to read maps and provide written and verbal directions. Familiar with on-line tools for maps and directions.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Must be able to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner.

Certifications:

  • N/A

Industry Related Experience or Skills:

  • Background in concrete, sand and gravel or transportation (preferred).
