POSITION OBJECTIVES

Holland Hall seeks a full-time Development Coordinator.  This role is an integral part of the Advancement department and reports to the Director of Donor Relations and Annual Giving. The Advancement department is responsible for creating a culture of philanthropy and spearheading constituent engagement, and securing philanthropic support for the school; activities include identifying and cultivating prospective donors, soliciting prospects, deepening engagement among alumni and families, and orchestrating community and fundraising events. This position is primarily responsible for implementing the annual operating plan for annual giving and Advancement communications as well as providing administrative support for fundraisers.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist in implementing the annual giving operating and communications plan and the Advancement department plan to meet fundraising goals and associated metrics including increasing donor retention and acquisition

  • Identify and qualify prospects for annual giving; make solicitations through phone conversations, personal meetings, and written correspondence

  • Draft appeals to various constituencies to meet strategic messaging objectives under supervision of the Director of Donor Relations and Annual Giving 

  • Ensure execution of appeal schedule and segmentation plan, including working with mail house and Communications team

  • Develop creative ideas and new tactics to educate prospects, thank and inspire donors, and participate in donor stewardship activities utilizing departmental best practices

  • Execute annual Giving Day and other fundraising efforts utilizing direct mail, email, video messaging, social media and other solicitation tactics

  • Implement and manage non-leadership annual giving volunteer program for parents, alumni, and others

  • Build leadership donor pipeline by analyzing donor engagement and identifying opportunities for increasing donor support

  • Support Director of Donor Relations and Annual Giving in tracking progress to goal and reporting activity and key metrics including donor status

  • In partnership with the Engagement and Events Coordinator, manage the student philanthropy program 

  • Serve as a stewardship and administrative assistant for fundraisers and volunteers

  • Provide data management support to Advancement Services team as needed

  • Assist in the Online Auction annually and participate in other Advancement events and activities as needed

  • Track development efforts in the Advancement CRM per departmental guidelines

  • Build trusting relationships with volunteers, donors, prospective donors, faculty, students and other constituents

  • Research best practices and benchmark against other independent schools’ annual giving programs

Qualifications

 

MINIMUM EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND REQUIRED

  • Bachelor's Degree and minimum of 3-5 years equivalent experience.

  • Proficient with the Google Suite of products and Microsoft Word and Excel.

 

PREVIOUS RELATED EXPERIENCE DESIRED

  • Previous experience working in a development or communications role.

  • Experience in educational advancement or nonprofit.

  • Ability to function in an independent school atmosphere working with various school and volunteer groups.

  • Regular attendance is required for successful completion of job duties.

 

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Advancement department hours are 8:00 to 4:30 with 30 minutes for lunch, however, the time required to perform this job may extend to hours outside department hours to include evenings and occasionally weekends.

  • Primarily works indoors in standard office conditions and climate.

  • Activities include walking, standing, bending, kneeling, lifting, finger dexterity, grasping, repetitive motions, talking, hearing and visual activity. The work is performed primarily indoors.

  • Occasionally lift up to 30 pounds.

  • Work in varied extreme outside weather conditions during special activities and fundraising events.

  • Works in a stressful but supportive environment dealing with a wide variety of challenges, deadlines and a varied and diverse array of contacts.

  • May work at a desk and computer for extended periods of time.
