About the role:

Help launch advanced telematics and assisted systems like RTLS, camera-based systems, AI enhanced services in dynamic forklift environments for operator safety and efficiency. Responsible for connected solutions software and firmware development, integration and evaluation to complement forklift design requirements, associated industry standards for telematics and operator assist systems. Support development of the next generation/ emerging connected solutions, controller development and integration. Act as a liaison between engineering, connected solutions departments, energy solutions teams and service team. Lead and coordinate all ADAS, operator assist system related software and firmware development, supplier selection and evaluation. Troubleshooting, issue tracking and resolution on any current or future systems and related field service requests.

What you will do:

  • Oversee internal or supplier software development for advanced operator assist functions, ADAS features, Telematics IOT in collaboration with truck design teams in-line with project plan
  • Oversee and lead sensor integration and other hardware to implement advanced safety functionalities, vision-based systems and automated solutions
  • Ensure cross-functional engagement by working with internal groups like new product development, test, embedded engineers, electrical and mechanical engineering teams to optimize processes and develop new systems
  • Oversee the technical development of components of projects and lead software and firmware engineers to ensure project goals. Identify and resolve challenges as they arise, work with other engineers to resolve design and architectural challenges
  • Lead and oversee the creation of test plans for software validation. Analyze results and create documentation and recommendations based on results

When & Where:

  • 15%-20% Travel
  • Hybrid schedule
  • Will require this position to reside near our Marengo, Illinois or Houston, Texas location
  • The work is primarily done in an office environment with other work locations including development lab, manufacturing line, and field locations such as customer facilities

Qualifications

What you need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering
  • Skill in software development
  • 5+ years of experience in computer, electrical, software or mechanical engineering with strong proficiency in software development
  • Experience with implementation and development of vehicle or IOT connectivity, ADAS, deep learning models
  • Proficiency with hardware solutions including cameras, LiDAR, embedded controllers, robotic platforms or other systems
  • Skilled in constructing complex project schedules involving timelines, manpower and resources
  • Experience with Python, C++, object-oriented development, Linux based development environment
  • Knowledge with CANBus protocols and testing
  • Experienced in constructing project schedules involving timelines, manpower and resources
  • Demonstrated customer focus experience

What would be nice to have:

  • 3+ years of experience developing complex software systems using technologies related to the role
  • Experience with firmware architecture design and development, object detection, operator/driver assist or ADAS technologies etc.
  • Experience and knowledge of ADAS/autonomous driving sensor suite including LIDAR, RADAR, Ultrasonic, Computer Vision/VSLAM, ML
  • Experience with Cellular networks such as 4G/LTE/CAT M and OTA protocols for SW Update and provisioning
  • Experience with Fleet Management Systems, particularly of commercial or industrial equipment
  • Experience with Software integration on electrical sub systems

The salary for this position ranges from $120,000 to $155,000 annually. The specific salary for a successful candidate will depend upon, among other legitimate factors, education, training, and/or experience.
